Part of the reason Walker is becoming enemy #1 is because he is one of the few big podcasters who hasn't been going long enough to become audience captured and still thinks for himself.
Modern Bitcoin maximalism likes to think of itself as the white blood cells of the corpus but in reality it's more of a cancer that needs to be cut out for Bitcoin to grow.

Several of the core problems he points out still exist today, I think reactions to this post as "aging poorly" make the future of mining decentralization look pretty bleak as it reveals both a lack of awareness by Bitcoiners and a denial of these risks.
Peters biggest miss here is thinking that these centralization forces would be bad for price. Bitcoin can go much much higher before we realize it's too late to solve some of these things, I expect it to be at least another decade before we look back and wish we were more recognisant of minings problems.

The assumption that everyone needs to fully understand the entire scope of a soft fork does not have historical precedent.
Very few people outside the technical community understood Taproot. Like pretty much nobody did if we're being honest. Segwit was similar -- I really don't think many people knew what Segwit really was outside of the developers.
So to demand that all Bitcoin participants understand the full capabilities of covenants or else it's not even worth talking about how to activate is pretty ridiculous. That is, unless this demand comes with a significant retroactive framing of previous soft forks having been done in a way we regret.
Now, I think it should be our goal and duty to explain it to as many people as possible but the reality is that these changes to bitcoin have happened with 90%+ of the Bitcoin community having no clue that was happening.
How do you square the reality that the overwhelming majority of Bitcoin participants had no idea what was going on (I would make the claim 90%+) and yet we demand overwhelming 90%+ consensus for soft forks?
Do not mistake my point for advocating for a contentious "sneaky" soft fork -- my point is that so much of the framing is wrong from the ossification camp & "maybe we soft fork in a few years to a decade" camp. I have never seen so many goalposts move so quickly as I have over the past year.
