This might be a long post. I'm kinda just venting here, but maybe some of y'all have had a similar experience and could weigh in.
I just had a brief phone call with a member of the upper management of my employer, about bitcoin.
Ultimately, I left learning that the employer itself doesn't have "enough capital" to allocate to something as risky as Bitcoin, and instead they hold their cash in money markets.
"What if we need to pay our bills and bitcoin dropped 20% this week, that's not a risk we can take." ----understandable, but this was perverting our conversation into a new assumption that ALL of our cash would be converted to BTC, so largely an unfair defense used to bolster the position against adoption.
The gentleman I spoke with said, "when I heard that you wanted to be paid in 'crypto' I thought that was cool as shit" He asked so are you really deep into crypto, I take it? I corrected him gently and said, No I only have Bitcoin, not crypto, I barely hold any dollars either.
He didn't really know how to respond it seemed, so he opened up to share his personal connection to 'crypto' He "knows he should dabble but is 6 years from retirement" so he buys the ETFs, because he is 'conservative'
So it was a fruitless phone call, with someone with a lot of power in the decision making processes of my employer. I will not be paid in sats, they will not buy btc to strengthen their balance sheet, this gentleman still conflates crypto and bitcoin, but "gets it enough"
So to you, dear reader, what would you do in this situation?
The dollar-denominated salary is "enough" to
sustain my current state. However we have bigger plans and need more space to create and grow a family. I save as much of my paycheck as possible, living off the remainder. And it's undeniably true that my Bitcoin stack has grown substainly in purchasing power as compared to USD-savers.
Perhaps I'm being impatient, you might say, but my time is my scarcest asset and I wish to preserve as much of it for my family as I can. I'm 16 years into this industry, no longer incentivized and energized like I was in my teens and early 20s, so upskilling and promotions aren't a likely next step. Such promotions would require a significantly larger time commitment for an unequal amount of monetary compensation. (especially since it's denominated in a forever-debasing currency)
Don't get it twisted either, I work my ass off. Long shifts late into the night, coming home around 11pm, side-gigs on my days off paid right into my Strike account and 100% converted to sats, heck I'm mining at home for heat while I'm out working. I'm stacking sats. But there's an obvious misalignment I feel and cannot seem to navigate to a better path.

Talked to a new neighbor yesterday, we bonded over tattoos.
He admitted to getting tattooed at least once every month for the last 5 years.
I stopped getting tattooed right before lockdown, and instead took all that cash and converted to Bitcoin over the same time period.
It's interesting to me how close our stories were up until a certain point.

Upon arriving back at the shop, I traded those pieces of paper for a quarter million sats, sent directly to my node at home.

I feel healthy, and don't regularly use Western medicine or frequent a doctor's office. So I'm attracted to the idea of an alternative to and HSA (which I am not eligible to open).
If I'm paying into Trad health insurance, and never seeing a doctor, I'm wasting money comparatively.
