The attention that the paid publishers and the free reviewers are giving articles is evident in the obviously AI-generated papers that Nature and others are publishing and then forced to retract. I suspect some reviewers just login and click "looks good" without reading. I wonder how many papers are just garbage nobody paid attention to and signed off on.

I thought I'd take a quick look, but not seeing a lot about Pickering actually having high cancer rates.
The RADICON study says the numbers within 25km are the same as the provincial numbers.
I did see this story, which doesn't list Pickering in the five cities they talk about. Assuming there is a higher them normal incidence, what other industries happen in Pickering?

At around the same time in Calgary, I paid the Calgary UNIX Users Group a couple dollars per month, likely about $2 a month like the Edmonton Freenet. Same basic access with pure terminal. You could pay a bit extra for SLIP/PPP but what'd I need with that for archie, news, or gopher access?
The best side benefit was that I could take the train to the downtown office with a couple boxes of 3.5" disks and retrieve SLS Linux images directly rather than wait on my slow modem.

Plus a box to throw dead modems in, and a bunch of spare new-in-box modems for spares. We somehow had a good part of a T1 to our provider, and somehow we had frame relay connections to some of our business clients.
