I did not know that. Did you know that the word "tawdry" came from a fair in England that sold cheap necklaces. It was St. Audrey's Fair. Anything from it was "tawdry", i.e. cheap and poorly made. We still use the word tawdry but most people don't know its origin. It helps in remembering the meaning.
