LOL...dude it's literally your job to know this...
This actually might be a GREAT test. See how much this guy appraises the house, knowing he's intentionally discounting the solar+battery system, then see how much it sells for to a person who actually values free electricity.

Him: 🤷‍♂️ Not in PA.
PA is notoriously low-solar adoption and a heavy gas/coal state. But also some of the highest electric rates, so...?

Appraiser asked how much I paid for solar & said "you'll never earn that back" & they would only last 20 yrs (they're literally warrantied for 30yrs).
He's spouting solar disinfo & is convinced most people won't want it, so it has no value (tell me you're MAGA without telling me you're MAGA).

So I learned today that house appraisers are biased against solar (at least the one who came to my house). He absolutely won't include any extra value to the house for having solar despite covering 50-70% of our electric usage including EVs.

People are starting to see the invisible control that oil has in their lives. We've long had oil wars (and oil shocks) but people shrugged their shoulders, *what can you do*, and just accepted this geopolitical reality engineered to keep the elites in power... because we've never had an alternative *at scale* ready to deploy...

Feeling grateful for plants this morning. Which is such a funny thing to say, but they (and specifically my native garden patch) remind me of the seasonality of life and how there's a time to grow and a time to rest, how planting seeds for the future is something you spend your whole life doing, and this is good. This is living.

it's a gain in HIS STRENGTH — he doesn't care about the country. HE HAS POWER, that's all that matters (of course).
It's really hard for normal people to wrap their brains around how fantastically evil and petty and broken these people are. That's part of how they convinced so many to vote for them — our collective unwillingness to believe they're actually THAT evil and dumb. They must mean something else, right?
But they are that evil and dumb.

We tend to value things by their immediate (often monetary but also status) value right now...
...and not the value it has intrinsically or in the future or the unknown and unknowable impact it could have on others in the future.

I've been writing it into my fiction since my first Mindjack series because it's so obviously THERE but ignored.

Saw a post that we shouldn't shame people for eating "cheap" fast food in this economy (or really any time) & I agree
yet McDonalds' sales are down because people *can't even afford McDonalds* (not least cuz they've jacked up their prices way more than inflation)

...and then you have space to talk about the revolution, plan the revolution, **be the revolution.**
Mamdani is incredibly helpful as an example of what that looks like but that's the entire thing: it's a failure of imagination, so the revolution is also imagination.

I think people (me, I'm people) often forget that organizing isn't phone banks or fundraising... it's scavenger hunts. It's neighborhood mutual aid during the hunger crisis. It's coming together because you love knitting (or D&D or bookclub) and you've got friends and emotional bandwidth...

Non-violence is the great weapon of every resistance movement.

(it's more complicated than "just" vote & protest; it's community building, it's radical compassion, it's rediscovering and reclaiming values, it's standing up to defend freedom and science and human rights, it's finding joy and building a world worth fighting for; it's all those things)

America is broken in ways that can't be patched together.
What's happening, what has to happen, is a *radical restructuring of social relationships*, ie real change.
That's what revolution *is*.
And it's happening (and has to happen) in radically peaceful protests & at the ballot box.

Trump egging us on with fascist crackdowns, begging for riots to justify *more* state violence really brought some clarity.
The answer *is* "just" voting & protesting. But no one protests to sacrifice *more* human rights. We don't show up at the ballot box to vote for *more* fascist fuckery.

I'm still furious. With few exceptions (incl Mamdani), Dem leadership has been a catastrophic failure. Every one needs to be primaried.

funny story from my purple state of PA (I live in a neighborhood with a lot of Republicans):
climate driven storm knocked power out for like a WEEK
I'm the local eco hippie with solar panels, so I had PLENTY of power.
I set a chair outside my front door with a power strip and a sign that said "FREE POWER"
older guy was gobsmacked how great this was, how "no one is neighborly any more!" and I'm 1000% sure he's a Republican and I'm like 🧐 DUDE I'M A LIB IT'S WHAT WE DO🤣 🌞

My kiddo went to Georgia Tech and I can definitely see the "take care of your own" come into play... but even with that, you've got a lot of structural and cultural headwind.
I wish for the south to reclaim that radical history too! Any time you're organizing and working together with folks to take care of each other THAT ALONE is a radicalizing factor, so the more of that, the better.

Blue areas in red states will fare better. That's where people will go if they figure it out (and have transport, which can be a major problem for #SNAP folks).
This is whole thing is a live test of the mutual aid model folks have been talking about/educating people on since the pandemic started.

2025-10-29 23:41:27 GMT

Red states have no conceptual model for this. They're brain rotted on rugged individualism: it's soup kitchen at the church or zip.
Meanwhile, blue state folks are like "let's set up mutual aid at the coffee shop for SNAP folks"
Blue states already mobilizing resources.
Red states gonna starve.

3-fight R propaganda about "the poor"

40M people are on food assistance because rich fucks are greedy.
