@nprofile…d73q "fine tuning" just means running the training process starting from an existing model instead of a random starting point.
you might have a model trained on many librivox voices, pick one that is most similar to a voice you want to copy, and then start training from that. while you might only have half an hour of samples enough of the original weights hold up to make up the difference.
models like dolphin are precisely just taking those models and throwing one's own curated set of training data at them. loras are basically a sparse diff of weights resulting from this process.

- post-gig economy contract law has established some legal rubrics for, basically, declaring that a company is not genuinely engaging in contracting
- this is defined by things like is equipment dictated (yes), is the means of production dictated (yes), are they expected to be available on-demand (yes), depending on agency there's some 20-point test that basically determines if the state annulls contractor status and proceeds to enforce employment law as though you are a permanent employee that you seem to be
- this becomes important because the disabilities act specifically excludes discrimination against contractors (it actually doesn't, but retarded judges split hairs over it using the word 'employee', and helping their corpo friends by pretending there's a difference between employee<>contractor when the IRS et all say there legally is not)
- ADA requires 'reasonable' accommodations; you can't task someone in a wheelchair with running tasks and then fire them for being slow.
- in this case the reasonable accomodation is just providing clear goals and deadlines--which is already in line with contract law, so it would be hard to claim its an unreasonable accomodation
- but discrimination cases don't apply unless you have employee rights
- the company used stand-up meetings to enforce work time ("be available by this time every day, even though its not in your contract") and was tracking hourly work without declaring deadlines
- this basically argues that they were trying to elicit employee level responses without doing something that would obviously trigger the 20-point framework to declare them a real employee
- this turns "we just don't like your face" in to "we discriminated against an autistic person by setting them up to fail and are about to eat shit in a civil rights suit"

but it mostly comes down to if you can convince a judge of some 20-point rubric that a company is not genuinely hiring by contract.
in this case its possible they weren't, because it was made apparent that the schedule was being watched with deadlines (they were just undisclosed, in order to evade the regulations.)

ordinarily i'd say this is government being oblique on purpose (which they also like doing) but i've used enough efiling systems to consider its actually related to some bizzare up/downstream requirement of document storage middleware.
