I've settled for a Chromecast with GoogleTV 4k. You can set it up without installing any Google Apps on your phone (unexpected), but you'll need a (fake) google account for the initial setup. I still need to figure out if it's possible to delete the account afterwards and still be able to use it. There is an option to add accounts for children, but it does not work. The interface is quite nice and the speed is okay. Overall, I like it more than the FireTV or AppleTV and the remote is functional and easy to use. Similar to the FireTV, but without the branded buttons. It is probably a horrible privacy invading device. so I went through all the privacy settings obviously and deactivated everything including voice assistance, but I don't trust the settings anyway. I've also put it on a separate network connected through a VPN, installed only a couple of streaming apps, and it is only connected when in use to mitigate that a bit. Nevertheless, handle with care as all internet enabled devices.
