If you haven't looked at AV1, it's _really_ impressive as far as file sizes. I'm seeing 3x size reduction without noticeable quality loss on certain media.
Biggest downside is fucking nothing plays it, and even decently powered devices with CPU can lag with it.

While there are technically other studios producing content besides Netflix, it seems like at best they are light versions of it. Does anyone really think Amazon is going to produce grade-A stuff after Rings of Power?
I think the best we can hope for until a shift occurs, which is unlikely, is oases in a desert of slop. Even said oases I generally find not as good as stuff in the golden eras of cinema.
I don't know if I would have ever watched anime if media quality never dropped.

I liked the season with Stained, and maybe one more, but it very easily runs together and entire seasons can feel like nothing happened. They're now airing the final season, so it may make sense to just watch that once it ends.

I use KDE rather than a TWM. I use nano/micro and fish shell. I use visual studio enterprise in a windows VM. screen rather than tmux.

Intel (INTC) also has fabs in the US, but they haven't performed well (at least on the cutting edge side) for a decade. It does indeed look like TI (TXN) has multiple fabs in Texas and Utah. They also accepted CHIPS act funding to "expand" their existing fab facilities.
TI doesn't produce anything near cutting edge nodes as far as I know, but they are a work horse for a lot of automative/other industries that don't need <= 7nm chips.

I think it's relatively easy, if you've baked bread/dinner rolls before. Roll the dough into balls, pierce the middle with your thumb and work them into shape, then drop into a boiling honey/malt water bath. There's good resources (e.g. king arthur) for cooking them the first time.
