But sometimes, I don't have internet access, or the place itself doesn't have a network, so what do I do? I go to a place with internet, make the transfer from there, take a screenshot of the ‘transfer receipt’ to show the shop owner, and that's it.
Transfers are usually made using a phone number or a 7-digit bank account number, depending on the bank's system.

In order to use PalPay or any banking app, you need to have internet access, whether it's Wi-Fi or mobile data.
But today, many shops and small businesses have internet access, so when I go shopping, for example, the shop owner usually has internet, or I use mobile data if anyone can share it with me.

Electronic payments have become more widespread, especially in the last three to four weeks, and large shops and markets now accept payments via banking apps, the most important of which is PalPay, which is linked to Bank of Palestine. The merchant receives the balance in their account or wallet number, and the transfer is made easily from one app to another.

Currently, with the temporary truce in place, there is more room for goods to enter from the West Bank, so merchants in Gaza are buying their goods through bank transfers rather than cash, meaning they transfer funds through banks rather than using cash.
We buy goods through Bank of Palestine or through the PalPay wallet, and some people use the Palestinian Islamic Bank or Bank of Jerusalem, depending on the trader's preference.

Khamis’s new sister’s name is Milana. Her birth happened successfully the 20 November.
She was born after 7 months of pregnancy, which is too early, but she’s fine. Thank God. She’s still at the hospital.
My sister Rasha lost a lot of blood, she had to receive a blood transfusion. She’s still at the hospital, but she’s fine, thank God.

My father continued working until he reached retirement age in 2021 and received numerous certificates, including an excellent rating for his proficiency in teaching Arabic. Throughout the years, my son was ranked among the top five teachers in Palestine, encompassing the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip. He also received the award for best Arabic teacher in East Gaza City every year.

My father was highly competent in teaching throughout his years, and a large number of his students graduated from Gaza universities. Among them are engineers, doctors, teachers, lawyers, police officers, and businessmen, some of whom became successful entrepreneurs.

After that, my father moved to Gaza City, which falls under the jurisdiction of the East Gaza Education Directorate, and worked at one of its schools, Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi School. He taught students of varying levels, from good to excellent.

My father, Moein Atiya Shobair, had been an Arabic teacher since he joined the Palestinian Authority's Ministry of Education and Higher Education. He began his work in the northern Gaza Strip, specifically in the Jabalia area, at Al-Faluja School, from 1994 to 2007. During that time, the occupation came and destroyed everything, including schools and all aspects of life.

I would like to clarify that while a ceasefire has been announced, what we have on the ground is only a temporary mitigation of hostilities; the war is still ongoing. The Israeli army hasn't withdrawn, and we're still subjected to gunfire and shelling periodically.
The situation is extremely difficult… food is scarce, there are no jobs, no source of income, and people are living on aid. I was surprised to see that donations have stopped, even though we are still in dire need.

We, the Shubeir family, are from the Palestinian town of Hamama, 25 kilometres North of #Gaza, now completely erased by Israel after the #Nakba. And we are famous for selling and fishing. There are other families from Hamama who are also fishmongers, such as the Shubeir family, the Miqdad family, the Abu Awda family, the Abu Sultan family, the Zeidan family, the Abu Riyala family, and the Kaskin family.

Also, my aunt's husband, Youssef, from the Miqdad family, lived in southern Gaza, specifically in the city of Rafah. He was a well-known fishmonger. The Miqdad family of Rafah were generally known for their fishmongering.

My grandfather was a very kind and well-known man in the #Gaza seaport named Atiya Ibrahim Shubeir. In 1961, he was a skilled fisherman who would catch fish and then sell them in the morning in the famous markets of the Gaza Strip, such as the Firas Market, the Zawiya Market, and the Old City Market.

It works! Carrefour was forced to close all their branches in Jordan. Puma ended its complicity with the genocide. McDonald’s is seeing global sales declining and has been forced to react in several countries. Some arms manufacturers were forced to close their branches in the UK.
I hope you realise that by watching Disney+, drinking Coca-Cola and eating at Burger King, you finance a genocide. It would be nice to stop now.

There are many international companies and organisations that benefit from the violation of international law and from the murder, displacement and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Gaza and in the West Bank. Their money funds the bullets that kill Palestinian children, and the explosive robots that destroy whole neighbourhoods, sometimes whole villages. It’s important your money isn’t used for that. Most often, there are real alternatives.

We’re trying to survive war, starvation, a collapsed health system, a collapsed environment full of toxic chemicals and unexploded bombs and ammunition ready to explode as soon as anyone or anything gets too close. And there’s still a blockade. There is quite a lot of farmland in the Gaza Strip which used to allow Palestinians to grow their own food, as an alternative to Israeli products. But now all of the farmland is on the forbidden side of the yellow line as per Trump’s peace agreement. So we can only resort to using the little food aid Israel lets in, or Israeli products they allow, which make up all of what we can find on the markets.

First, you need to understand it’s very difficult for the people in #Gaza to boycott Israeli products. Gaza has been under a blockade since 2007 (I was 4 years old). Israel built a gigantic wall all around the Gaza Strip. The occupation forces have been deciding what is allowed in to Gaza and what is allowed out.

They barely let any aid in. No food. No medicine. Only soldiers and bombs and explosive robots. And they arm gangs and militias.
Most international banks comply with the blockade imposed by the occupation, and they block IBAN transfers to Palestine. The cash crisis is intentional.

I made the fire out of paper and cardboard hahaha. No wood as it is too expensive. And no plastic as it comes too close to the food, it's not in a pot.
This bread was very delicious.
We still need help to feed our whole family every day, and to afford to relocate to Gaza City. If we can gather the money soon, we'll be able to move and avoid paying rent here.
