Currently, I cut it down with an extension thingy which is hard work and might also put an additional risk on our modules.

https://www.derstandard.at/story/3000000336448/dampf-ist-billig-donald-trump-befiehlt-den-umbau-von-flugzeutraegern-mit-uralter-technik?ref=rss

@nprofile…l2h8 @nprofile…mkht @nprofile…wsge Or you use my https://codeberg.org/publicvoit/orgheadingnetwork which visualizes a sub hierarchy or a whole Orgdown file at once.

@nprofile…l2h8 @nprofile…wsge Somehow.
It's an intermediate step with a split: https://logseq.io/page/b2ad9ce1-9cb7-4436-8083-54cb4516d324/df4dc09d-0a12-4c87-904e-22a9bf4c350a
The fork "og" is only supporting MD. The DB version never got Orgdown in the first place.
So either way, Orgdown is dead with logseq.
They're even have to discuss questions if Markdown files are supported in future (see FAQs). 😲

@nprofile…l2h8 @nprofile…wsge Really? Well, I never saw that approach elsewhere.
Will probably investigate into that.
However, it is far from easy for my migration approaches 'cause it produces all sorts of effects when converted that way into other formats.
All paragraphs as headings may be a valid approach when you stick to Orgdown but it is a mess when converted that way.

@nprofile…l2h8 @nprofile…wsge Well, that seems to be more effort to me than anticipated: deciding what tools do qualify, choosing an icon that has the suitable rights attached, ...
Btw, I'm afraid with the latest changes, Logseq should be removed. IMO it was questionable to add it in the first place as it came with a very peculiar interpretation of the Org-mode syntax: https://karl-voit.at/2024/01/28/logseq-from-org-pov/ which causes me much pain in converting my wife's logseq data to something different, not having the advantages of standard orgdown. 🤷

@nprofile…l2h8 @nprofile…wsge I know.
However, I think you've got the Org point of view perspective and I want to promote Orgdown to people who will never hear of Emacs or are even opposing the use of Emacs. Totally different turf and hosting information at org or worg doesn't help here.
That's totally different perspective and the way non Org people stumble over information.
After all, the #Emacs community never differentiated the tool #Orgmode from the much more general lightweight #markup language #Orgdown. The focus of #OD is the latter and I want to promote that by mostly neglecting any connection to Emacs, Elisp and the communities involved. Not directing people to the mixup of information on Orgmode.org was a very deliberate decision of mine.
https://karl-voit.at/2021/11/27/orgdown/
I know that some org community people disagree with my approach for various reasons. Some of the arguments do have real substance, most rather not.
YMMV

I'd prefer without JavaScript although I don't know how to get the messages even with using JS.
There's no active server component either.
So I'd have to establish a cron job that somehow queries parts of the Fediverse and extract messages to generate local copies + backlinks. Doesn't sound reasonable.
What I can think of: adding a button that opens a query for the hashtag on the reader's Mastodon instance somehow... 🤔

If you're facing weird effects or poor performance when working with #Emacs (or #orgmode) and you're having a customized setup:
One thing that may solve some issues is removing your elpa/melpa packages and let it install from scratch.
It might be a good idea not to mix up #melpa and #elpa packages as it might introduce broken dependencies with mismatching package versions.
I've had my learning yesterday and it cost me and unfortunately another expert half of the day to find out about my mistake(s).
Edit: I initiated a #WORG page for tips like that: https://orgmode.org/worg/org-performance.html

I've got a #Kinesis #Advantage2LF #keyboard. I switched PCB to the #kinT alternative using a #Teensy controller in 2021-02 to get #QMK firmware:
https://github.com/kinx-project/kint
Since a few weeks, I face issues: ESC switched its position with the ` character. I "fixed" that by swapping their definitions in the keymap.c file & re-flashing. Weird but that worked.
Since a few days, they were swapped again. Swapped them back + flashed to their original definition position. Fixed.
However, there's another issue I can't fix: the Alt-keys are behaving erratic. See their position on https://karl-voit.at/2021/05/23/advantage2-modifications/
The left one is not doing anything at all. https://keyboard-tester.com/ doesn't show anything when they are pressed. I don't know if this is OK for that kind of modifier. The right Alt key is working sometimes.
Both were mapped to KC_LALT. I tried to flash both with KC_RALT which didn't change anything.
Could it be that the Teensy controller got faulty?
Any other ideas?

Why is it that #film scripts are full of completely false #IT concepts?
I mean nobody would write normal scenes where one person is pulling a freshly baked pizza out of the ear of another person. Nobody would accept things that defy basic physics except as a particular part of the story. 🤷
However, when it comes to #computer and #software, people writing scripts invent so much bullshit that any tech-savvy person needs to actively ignore it in order to keep a tiny bit of entertainment left. 🙄
Unfortunately, you actually make all non #tech-savvy people dumber: they don't understand that this particular part of the script is fiction that for some unknown reason contradicts our reality. 🤬
IMO you should be able to write good stories that don't come with tech-lies all over it as a side-note.
Unnecessary stupid IT stuff spoils any good series or #film to me.

:emacs:

I upgraded my lenovo #T490 from #NixOS 24.11 to 25.05 within an hour or so.
I've lost "xdu" (custom package doesn't compile anymore), had to manually download a closed source binary once again, had to manually replace "okular" with "kdePackages.okular" and remove "services.locate.localuser".
The upgrade went somewhat fine. Didn't find any issues so far besides the usual Python annoyances (manual re-creation of all venv and so forth).
However, I'm looking forward to switching back to #Debian in a few months. My Debian upgrades didn't require that much time and effort AFAIR and #Python is working in a normal way.

Yes, the #middlefinger gesture is old enough. Even old greeks and romans used it:

Maybe this (and the #catholicchurch forcing him to publicly revoke his findings) is why somebody decided to steal this part of his body when he was moved years after his death.

SpaceX Has Finally Figured Out Why Starship Exploded, And The Reason Is Utterly Embarrassing
https://www.planetearthandbeyond.co/p/spacex-has-finally-figured-out-why (from 2025-02-27)
"This means that, even if SpaceX can get their #Starship to work, their #FalconHeavy rocket will actually be cheaper per kilogram to orbit!
What’s more, if you actually look at how expensive Starship launches actually are, its kilogram-to-orbit cost is the same as Saturn V! (read more here).
So, basically, the NASA of over 50 years ago is beating SpaceX at their own game."
But hey, let us kill #NASA budgets and push buck loads of money to #Musk and #SpaceX. 🤦‍♂️

I, too, am totally convinced that it really doesn't matter if it is one or sixty seconds.
However, if your bootup time is much longer than mine (15-30s once a week) then you most probably have room for improvement (if you want). Consistent use of #usepackage with dependencies and "defer" did help on my side.

If you're using #GMail and you've learned about their latest claim to introduce real end-to-end #encryption: it's a lie.
Google has the control and/or you can't do anything against that Google takes control any time.
Real #E2EE works differently: only the sender and receiver are able to access the protected content.
https://arstechnica.com/security/2025/04/are-new-google-e2ee-emails-really-end-to-end-encrypted-kinda-but-not-really/
https://michal.sapka.pl/2025/gmail-e2e-is-as-terrible-as-expected/
#Meta also defined E2EE such that the message is encrypted from the sender to them, processed in clear text and re-encrypted for the transmission to the receiver.
Don't let them fool you with false claims and wrong definitions.

@nprofile…8f02 My thoughts:
- They mix up Markdown with the general term lightweight #markup language (as if #Markdown is the only #LML syntax)
- They ignore all other markup syntax examples such as (La)TeX, HTML, ...
- great screenshots of Word for DOS upwards 👍
- the title should be "#WYSIWYG vs. LML" (instead of the Word vs. Markdown story)
- no mentioning of other LML examples
Well it looks, as if we're settling for a mediocre standard again.
