happy independence day to finland 🇫🇮!
quote from o1: from o1: Finland, prior to declaring its independence in 1917, had not been an independent nation-state for centuries. From the Middle Ages until 1809, it was an integral part of the Kingdom of Sweden. After the Finnish War (1808–1809), the region was ceded to the Russian Empire, becoming the autonomous Grand Duchy of Finland under Russian rule. This arrangement lasted from 1809 until 1917.
