Messing around with my AI agent, Quicksilver, while waiting for Fable to re-write our entire ad sales workflow and I came up with this, using ShadoW-Shinigami’s Hermes skill for adding video to Suno songs.

Have you ever started whistling a song without knowing what the song was until you hit the chorus? Well I just did. The brain is a weird and wonderful thing.

The term “artificial intelligence” is terrible. It carries so much baggage and it’s implying things that rightly make people feel uncomfortable. On the other hand, we’ve coined this apt new term, agent - it’s friendly, helpful, most importantly, not intimidating. I think I’ll use agent from now on.

@nprofile…lknr Yep another Russian disinfo bot. thanks for the report.
I figured out how they're getting in. I left the Invitation feature of Mastodon on - any member could invite any other member. Once one bot got in they invited many others. I've disabled the invitation feature - alas - and I'm deleting the bots as fast as I can.

2026-05-02 17:22:00 GMT

Well this is concerning.
I just suspended 14 Russian LLM generated bot accounts that were created around April 17 on my Mastodon instance, twit.social. Somehow they circumvented manual registration approval. I've turned on Captchas (much as I hate them) for new member requests in the hopes that will stop the bots. They must have discovered a registration bypass bug.
Thanks to IFTAS SW-ISAC for noting and reporting the bots.

"“The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.”"
Words to remember even if, right now, the universe seems to be bending toward evil and chaos. I want to ignore the horrors of the global stage and focus on the local. What else can I do except to register my opposition and move on? I feel helpless. Lisa and I will go to the protests, again. We will vote in November. But I feel impotent in the face of this unchecked and corrupt government.

Mike Masnick nails it again in “Fascism for First-Time Founders” on Techdirt:
"Real innovation happens when companies have to compete on merit, not on who can kiss the leader’s ass most effectively. In a functioning democracy with actual rule of law, the best products have the opportunity to win. In an authoritarian system, the company that makes the dictator happy wins—and that’s it."

I'm starting to wish Apple would add an "I've alrfeady voted so stop bugging me" setting to iOS.

Hard to believe it’s been 1,000 episodes of TWiT. At 2p PDT/5p EDT/2100 UTC today the original panel from 2005 reassembles to celebrate. https://twit.tv/live

How nice. My boy was on KTLA plugging his new cookbook and he ran into Rich DeMuro!

Wonderful talking with @npub1gje…x06g on her new podcast Uneven Distribution! https://hearsayculture.com/podcast/tech-changes-everything-except-us

I mentioned on TWiT yesterday that there was little reason to go to the movies these days because most motion pictures are crappy sequels or part of an existing (sad) cinematic universe. I underestimated the problem.

I've completed "Step Counter" - Day 21 - Advent of Code 2023 #AdventOfCode https://adventofcode.com/2023/day/21
Oh polynomials - I dimly remember you from high school. This problem required me to reinvent calculus. Look for Leo's Principia coming soon.

I've completed "Pulse Propagation" - Day 20 - Advent of Code 2023 #AdventOfCode https://adventofcode.com/2023/day/20
Yes I'm still plugging away. Used OOP for this one, specifically Common Lisp's CLOS. Very elegant!

That was fun! But a lot of typing.

@wnknisel Is it as simple as following your Threads handle at threads.net?
e.g. [email protected]
It would be nice if this worked for Instagram too.

And now I've got a GPT expert on Emacs. Ingested all the Emacs manuals and Mickey Peterson's excellent Mastering Emacs. This is so much better than searching manuals. I'm blown away.

I'm freaking out. I just created a GPT to help me answer Lisp questions. I uploaded 10 of the best Lisp books (including Graham, Norvig, Siebel, and Touretzky) and it's giving me great answers. This is even better than the Hyperspec. What an amazing tool. It took me less than half an hour. I'm blown away.

Yep that's really me on Facebook. I think I need an account there to keep an eye on disinformation and the 2024 election.
I might follow some friends, too.

I think it might be time to warm up the Lisp muscles. The Advent of Code is right around the corner. I stalled out last year on Day 16. Stupid binary tree searches get me every time. But this time I WILL be ready!
