https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rOTRKuWcVw at this point the only people buying theatre tickets are the youtubers that kindly make a summary of why we can save our time and money by skipping that movie. It's like a socially useful service at this point, but on to a more serious question... wtf is this face?? °_° like seriously, is it guilt? Contempt? Fear? #ToyStory #ToyStory5 #Pixar #disney #AlexMeyers

ah yes those 3.9 billion users who can't be bothered flashing LineageOS but are definitely hosting their own services! Look, all snark aside I appreciate the argument of potential exposure and yes I see the advantage in having for example Jami available on stock Android or even iOS but let's not pretend that installing a couple free apps will make a difference when you also have GApps TikTok Whatsap Tinder running. I'd focus on the target audience at this point

I wish you made it more clear that this only affects stock android users and not all android users. Unless something has changed since last time I checked?

well back in the days when I last used #SailfishOS Alien Dalvik was working pretty well. No idea how much comes from the US (firmware blobs surely), but it did work. With that said, no one is preventing anyone from forking Android and making an European derivative. Or in fact just make a Sailfish competitor, competition is good

why is everyone typing ao as if it's a magical colour? Ao means blue, it's one of the two options in the poll. Just say blue, saying ao just because Miku is a Japanese character is... yeah you can use online dictionaries alright

there you go :) outlaws, bandits, ruffians, gangsters, kidnappers, murderers... So much to choose from so please stop the "law enforcement" rhetoric. I hate when the press does that, even in Iran "authorities have arrested thousands of people". A-ha, "authorities", right. "Arrested", sure.

because you guys keep calling these outlaws "agents", " federal something", "ice" and other empowering names. Start calling them the bandits they are and things will start making sense. Brigands do that, they kill for any perceived lack of respect

regarding Dilbert, one thing is its author which wasn't a public character and quite another is the comic itself. No need to cancel his comic and punish fans for such a minor event. Regarding Stallman, there are several articles explaining why what you're echoing is a twist of an out of context quote of what he said. Don't support the very same cancel behaviour you've been yourself a victim of

wokist BS, when they run out of arguments they accuse you of being a Nazi, a pedo, a rapist or something. At some point it was enough to shut you up and get you "cancelled". We lost #Dilbert because of that, they had #Stallman step down because of that, and countless people like you found themselves defending from baseless, off-topic and most of all false accusations giving the woke troll the upper hand. It looks like that trick is not working anymore!

right, minisforumpc.eu seems to ship to Serbia, I'm available to run benchmarks if you want to gauge if my model would be good enough for you. Being set up for frequent travelling myself that's all I can help with. If it's a full size tower what you're after I'm unable to help, maybe other users will jump in or try IRC

you sound confused mate. First you wanted advice on hardware, now you say that's not important. No one ever mentioned Amazon either. I'd say calm down, take a breath, make a pragmatic list of priorities, balance power and portability vs budget and clearly ask what you need. Each situation is unique, I cannot figure out the details for you. I know moving is stressful

checking your hardware, the 5950X is slower and has less RAM than my mini PC, 7800X is probably comparable. Happy to run benchmarks if it helps, again I have a Ryzen 9 7940HS 64GB RAM

portability vs power, I guess you'll have to compromise on one! Have a look here maybe https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_Ryzen_processors me working in c++ and compiling pretty much everything being it Gentoo, I find my device is fast enough. Full kernel build+install takes less than 10 min for me. I did install a Hynix SSD separately instead of the stock one and extra ram, maybe that helps. Last option is try asking on the #hardware channel on IRC Liberachat, they might better advice there. Good luck!

the advantage of the above vs laptop is no battery (good for airplanes) and more CPU power. Disadvantage is more cables, less mobility. Depending on how often you're going to move and how, a strategy to save space could be to get a cheap Logitech keyboard each time and just throw it away when leaving. Also USB-C to micro USB saves you a cable. And I almost forgot, GL-inet Slate AX router, it can work with the Anker charger but be careful some models powercycle when plugging stuff

well no one forces you to play, just you can ;) Premise: I'm not the type to work from McDonalds, rather I setup everything at hotel/apartment and leave it there. With that said, my setup is Minisforum UM790 Pro, currently on sale (but check out the 890 too as it's got an eGPU port), Asus Zenscreen MQ16AHE, Keychron K3 keyboard, bluetooth mouse, Anker USB charger, Sabrent aluminium USB-C hub with detachable cable, angled HDMI adapter, cables (lots), external SSDs. Running Gentoo

I'm very confused! The Pope has expressed support for Palestine, the #UN are demanding investigations into crime wars committed by Israel! So are both terrorists then? They must be! How can they agree with the ideals and goals of a terror group without being terrorists themselves? I mean, if spoke and acted in line with Bin Laden or Isis' goals then I'd be a terrorist, yes or no?

this, exactly this. It's been about resources and chip manufacturing from day 1. TSMC is building their new factory in mainland USA, need to provide it with a constant stream of resources now. The other big reason is the consolidation of the USD as the world currency, atm threatened by the Brics. He is doing exactly as promised, no crazy last minute change of heart

oh nationality, that's got some meaning, basically what's written on your passport. Though also kind of pointless since you can have more than one passport. I mean, going by your nationality thing, what if you're a celiac blond Italian, are you not Italian race? Or an American grown up in China for example, what race would he be? I think trying to find way to partition humans, funny as it may sound is really complicated and ultimately pointless

2025-03-28 17:03:15 GMT

- reply

it's used on so many contexts its meaning is diluted into whatever. I call "races" the 3 factions you can choose in StarCraft for example. There's a word already to describe cultures which is... cultures. I usually ask "which Country are you from?" Rather than "what race are you?" lol That's funny, imagine someone replying something other than "human" to that question :D "I'm a demon from outer space!" lol

2025-03-28 16:07:53 GMT

- reply

haven't read the article yet but I'm pretty sure "races" (I think species is a more accurate term) are a thing. I learned from your past articles about denisovans and I already knew about neanderthal and homo sapiens. That's as close as we get to human "races", which is sad in a way since they're all extinct :/ so if you're talking about present time yes, we're all alone in the hominidae family! There's a lot more info here https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_taxonomy and linked pages

interesting but ultimately this will only go the way he planned if contributors stick to his branch. If enough of them switch to a fork that's still under GPL then that fork is DuckStation while the author's version becomes just another dead branch. I mean, nothing is stopping YOU from forking and making everything necessary to make your version closed source, just I doubt that version will ever gain any traction. It happened with Subsonic/Libresonic for example
