relay.tools had a partial outage this morning for about an hour and a half due to a VPS being mis-configured handling a random reboot. Monitoring caught it, and I have also taken steps to ensure next time the downtime will be less impactful.

yes for now, it was the only thing still working for all clients. (besides just blasing kind1, which is what i used to do) future plans are to "preferred contact" settings .. possibly including nip17, kind1, alternate pubkeys, and amethyst notify.

Hi Five! Sure no problem here's some answers for ya:
1. This is correct, as is, there is no request/invite to join other than the lightning flow at this time. If you set a price and turn lightning payments on, this will prevent spammers and allow friends to join via that method without you having to approve each one. You can always remove the pubkeys afterward if someone joins that you did not want.
2. I can do rename requests manually if the name is available, it's not a feature in the UI.
3. Yes, you can delete posts by using the relay explorer page, when you click on an event you should see a "sign in" button, and if you sign in as moderator you'll see 3 buttons for admin actions, one is delete.

I noticed relay.tools *had a bug, where normally when you set "pay with lightning" it's supposed to change to "general settings: deny" so that the relay's access control will kick on. But it wasn't doing that. I just released a fix, so now it does. That means that previously your relay was not denying anyone who wasn't in the AUTH list, and now it is. You can change this at any time in your relay settings. It gets more complicated as well :) bear with me. I see that you have AUTH turned on, and that you are using this relay as a DM inbox relay. So, in this case, you *may want to have general settings: allow, or people that aren't in your access control list cannot DM you via this relay. That may be fine since you also have nos.lol listed as a DM relay in addition.. I just wanted to try to explain the options to you and happy to have you as a customer of relay.tools. Feel free to ask any questions or DM /simplex if you prefer. I will never initiate DMs or mention your relay name, but I will reach out from time to time on kind1 when I need to get in touch. Thanks again!

@npub12gu…fle6 , I ran the numbers for the relay manually to double-check, and the math checks out. What you saw was a negative balance of ~6155 sats, that's why the new balance is what it is. The calculation for running balance is as follows: 254 days of relay uptime * 400 sats/day (12000/mo) - the payments and bonus relay credit (orders). The UI should probably highlight negative vs. positive balances, I can see this could be confusing. Thanks for the feedback! 🤌

Ok, so it looks like scraping the events for pubkeys is not going to work. There has been a bot on there publishing from random keys (the pubkey list was 9649). So... What I think you should do is add your follows to the pubkey list (there's a button for this to do it with one click). And then switch the general settings to deny. Only 6 people have paid, these will be un-affected. This will allow all your current follows (probably lots of your network) to post without paying to start.. Does that sound ok?

I noticed that it looks like you wanted to set your relay to paid mode, but it is only halfway there. Currently it accepts payments, but does not deny access. This is likely a bug. So, I'd like to fix it for you. To fix it without kicking anyone, I have built a list of all pubkeys that have posted to this relay in the past (48 pubkeys) and I'm going to add these pubkeys to the allow list, and then flip the switch in general settings to Deny. Does this make sense? Sorry for the confusion there.
