I was going to get a Steam Deck finally, but held out to get a $429 refurb OLED instead of the $319 regular Christmas deal last year. Then we all know what happened.
So now I dont have one.

Many younger people dont realize how expensive computers were and how fast they became obsolete back in the 90s and early 2000s.
Now you can buy a 15 year old Sandy Bridge laptop for peanuts and still have a decent computing experience.
20 years ago a 5 year old computer was near useless for modern tasks.

Many people complain about the price of AAA games these days. But most people forget that games in the 90s cost up to $70 easy. For example Donkey Kong Country sold for $70 and adjusting for inflation that is $150 in current dollars.
That's why I didnt get to play a lot of games back in the 90s. Couldnt afford them.

Someone is making new versions of the old F series "Battleships" and you can get Unicomps which are modern production M101s and also a smaller chasis flat keyboard with buckling springs that arent exact duplicates of a claassic IBM model (I have one of these).

I wouldnt bother. Plus these tenkeyless versions of the M101 are really expensive now. I had got one when they were just moderately expensive.

The "Space Saver" tenkeyless here is basically a cut down IBM M101.

They are great for writers and coders.
The buckling spring is nice key feel and reliable. But noisy as all get out.

I have a couple of IBM buckling spring keyboards including this Space Saver TenKeyLess from the late 80s. Needs a cleaning. It's dusty.

A cheap laptop can replace the PS5 and every console.

Remember when 6 year old consoles reduced their prices.
The good ole days.

My second PC was an eMachines.
It was obsolete the day I bought it.
Advancements were so large and fast back then and E Machines werent offering cutting edge cpus and specs.
