Many younger people dont realize how expensive computers were and how fast they became obsolete back in the 90s and early 2000s.
Now you can buy a 15 year old Sandy Bridge laptop for peanuts and still have a decent computing experience.
20 years ago a 5 year old computer was near useless for modern tasks.

Atari ST computers which were kind of comptetitors to the Amigas, was known for it's superior sound chip. A lot of music was produced by hobbyists on those machines and traded amongst them.

My 2 favorite Arcade Games are
Williams Defender and William's Robotron 2084. Both created by Eugene Jarvis and Larry DeMar.
I have a lot of time on Donkey Kong and Joust too.
I was Top 3 at the local beach arcade on Defender and Robotron and Donkey Kong.

Check out this box of turn of the century Graphics Card bangers.
The Creative Labs card is an Audigy 2 soundcard.
The Hercules Prophet 4500 is a Kyros II graphics card. A one off design that wasnt successful in the marketplace. The Prophet II is a high end nVidia GeForce II.
Hercules was a high end player in graphics cards in the 90s but faded in the very early 00s.
The 5870 is from around 2010, not turn of the century era like these others.

I have a pretty extensive collection of CPU Coolers.
Including a Xigamatec Thor's Hammer
It's got black nickel plating on the aluminum fins with plain nickel plating on the copper heat pipes.
These were released in 2009 for AMD Socket 754 / 939 / 940 / AM2/+ / AM3 and Intel sockets 775 and 1366...plus later 1155 & 1156.

I lived in the boondocks and the PS3 and especially the XBox 360 with their online gaming werent feasible for me.

Here is my box of Atari VCS (2600) games.
The Star Raiders box is huge because it contains the number pad controller and overlay.
I think I have a few more in another box. But you can see that there are 27 games or so in this box. I usually get between 30 and 50 games for any retro console that I add to my collection.

I want to get a Retro Tink 4K CE.
I like playing original hardware. I get about 30 to 50 of the best games for a console.
That's how I kind of do the old hardware.

Many people complain about the price of AAA games these days. But most people forget that games in the 90s cost up to $70 easy. For example Donkey Kong Country sold for $70 and adjusting for inflation that is $150 in current dollars.
That's why I didnt get to play a lot of games back in the 90s. Couldnt afford them.

Someone is making new versions of the old F series "Battleships" and you can get Unicomps which are modern production M101s and also a smaller chasis flat keyboard with buckling springs that arent exact duplicates of a claassic IBM model (I have one of these).

My second PC was an eMachines.
