Last Notes

3 years ago, I set myself a challenge to read a book from every country in the world. Today, I finished my 99th book and will select my 100th. I’m still not even halfway round the world but 100 feels like a milestone.
At this rate, it might be another 5 years before I finish this challenge but I’ll certainly be older and wiser at the end. #books #Bookstodon

Totally agree with you. I’m finding more and more teachers are using AI this way which troubles me. I feel that this really causes credibility issues with students. They can tell when teachers cut corners and cheat.

Need to come up with some guidelines on how teachers, not students, should use AI ethically. I have a few ideas but would love more if anyone here has thoughts about this.

I finished reading Reef by Romesh Gunesekera, my Sri Lankan title for my read around the world project. It was such a breath of fresh air to read a book about people doing normal things and going through their lives while treating each other humanely. While reading, I keep encountering triggers which made me think something bad is about to happen but it never does. In the end, everyone is a decent person. Why is this so shocking to me?! Am I just so completely jaded?

One sentence a day sounds really manageable. I like the idea of the perpetual journal too. That way every day gets reviewed year on year. I’ll have to try this. Are you still doing this?

Tried my hand at journaling and can’t seem to land on a good system that is engaging but also sustainable. I need to get my thoughts out of my head onto paper so I don’t want to give up. I write stuff down all the time but everything seems scattered everywhere at the moment. Bullet journaling didn’t work for me. Any advice?

Hi! I’m new here. I’ve tried Mastodon a couple times but maybe third time’s the charm! I have become increasingly disillusioned by mainstream social media and I’m searching for ways to connect with other people outside of an algorithm.
I teach high school English and I read a lot. Currently at book 92 of a read around the world project. I was a teen in the 90s and still trying to keep my grunge phase alive. I love art and film too.
Hope to meet some likeminded people!
