Today marks the first day that we're eating food that has either been grown by us or traded for with stuff grown by us for every meal.
Eggs we traded habeneros for, bread we traded eggplants for, lettuce from our garden, baba ghanoush from our garden, and lentil soup entirely from our or our neighbors garden, pickles from cucumbers we grew ourselves.
That makes these meals simultaneously the most expensive and also cheapest I've ever eaten, depending on how you look at it.

Watching Mr Roger's with my sons.
There is a quiet genius to this show that I never appreciated as a kid. I didn't watch it much.
He's intentional about his timing, and how he words things.
He's subtle, but not obtuse.
Truly a gift to the world.
(and that's not even touching on the well-documented and tactful anti-racist, anti-prejudicial stance the show and the man took)

I give NodeJS, NPM and the greater web ecosystem the benefit of the doubt all the time. I defend it. No, it's not perfect, but, like, it's _fine_. Utilize the horsepower in modern browsers, use the same language on both the front and back ends.
And yet, here I am once again staring at a bunch of Angular build errors when _all I did was upgrade my packages to their most recent minor versions_.
No major version changes, no change to the code base, nothing.

I get why Discord ends up being the defacto place to put stuff around a community.
You start there because it's free text and voice chat. You use it to play games together, and then you need to start sharing news, so you make a channel for that.
Then you have stuff you want to distribute to people, and you already have discord, so, why pay for another service?
Resist this urge. Discord is not yours. It's Discord's, and that's okay for ephemeral text messages. Use it for that.
Own your stuff.

There are a million and a half resources for beginners out there (and that is a good thing!), and "experts" generally know where in the docs to look.
Your zines fill the gaps between beginner and expert really, really well, and that's why I love them to bits.

You're using FUSE the same way I would use, say, meters if I were making a unit conversion app. "I'll just convert everything to meters, and then to the destination unit!" only it's "everything is fuse".
At least, that was my impression from a quick glance through the code. This is a beautiful, horrible hack.

Can you find overseas printers? Or is the demand overseas not enough to satisfy volume requirements for a local/regional printer?
I ask as someone who has never needed to print anything for overseas shipping, but who has had some experience with _3D_ printing and farming out work to more regional printers.

@npub1upk…tcwy From what I remember, we moved to other forms of port management when changing iptables required too much potential breakage. (nftables, e.g.)
I think some distros, instead, just put wrappers around iptables rather than use the new stuff (e.g. I think ufw was/is just a front end that works with both ptables nftables?)
Take that with a grain of salt, because I've been using firewalld and ufw almost exclusively for over a decade, because they were always "good enough".

@npub1upk…tcwy well, I will say that I've had people tell me they couldn't hit my site in Australia, and that does seem to be consistent with that site. The other failures surprised me, and aren't consistent.
There aren't always failures all over the globe, but there's always at least one failure in good ol' 'straya.

@npub1upk…tcwy to this day, my websites (which I've had for years) aren't available in certain parts of Australia, Europe, south Asia, and even the US, because, for whatever reason, the records don't propagate into whatever dns servers there are in those areas.
No, seriously, look at the attached map.
What crummy dns provider am I using that leads to this, you ask?
Oh, only _cloudflare_.
Mind you, I know this isn't cloudflare's fault, and it rarely impacts me, as I don't really have "users".
