Fun thing about rendering this map in blender is doing silly animations is trivial. The orbit here shows of the 3d topographic data, which in this version is 4x exaggerated. Not useful, but fun. #cartography #map #cartographer #mapping #gis

I'm terrible at self promotion. Drawing maps is more fun than making stupid videos or updating websites. But, my website has my portfolio, and it was neglected and sad. Until yesterday, I finally got round to adding the missing maps. Link in bio.

A personal project of prototype board designs for a pirate themed board game concept I’ve got in my head that’s needs much refining. I’ve tried to create a vibrant representation of islands and varied navigational hazards on a hex map…. #cartography #map #boardgames

Far from finished, but this is the extended shape the improved land of Nicea. The new sections are to the far west and east. Seeing the ocean on both sides really frames the continent and aesthetically improves the map more than I would have guessed. Next I need to add forest details to the west, then colour and the border needs work. #shadows #mapping #dndmap #dndcartography #cartography #cartographer #rpg #dnd #roleplaying #fantasy #map #ttrpgart #largemap #gamesmaster #rpggame #dndcreatives

Back to the magical land of Nicea, I’m working on the line work for the jungles to the East, an excuse to draw lots of dinosaurs in the dense rainforest. It’s for dungeons and dragons so the land need to invite exploration. The jungle is criss crossed by rivers, with tall rock formations and mysterious ziggurats. The jungle gives way to a desert region and a few settlements. Plenty of caves and ruins to explore. #mapping #cartography #rpg #dnd #fantasy #map #ttrpg #fantasymap #map #mapmaker

@nprofile…4edm I was thinking a fantasy full world map, but I have thought of doing my take on earth... could be a fun project. I'd actually like to draw a map of earth during the Late Cretaceous, a well as drawing a whole load of dinosaurs which id love, I could mark the Chicxulub impact point and where places are that we know now....

2025-02-10 20:36:29 GMT

I’m back once again to the magical land of Nicea. The client has been using the map in family games and now wants to extend the map to the east and west so it shows the whole continent which will look great. There is so much this map taught me, I love the spherical projection, I really want to draw a world map this way at some point. #shadows #mapping #dndmap #dndcartography #cartography #cartographer #rpg #dnd #roleplaying #fantasy #map #ttrpgart

The map was a challenge, we needed to visualise this highly magical and fascinating world composed of a floating island sundered into two parts with a connection to the mortal realm through a waterfall of souls. This is generally adult dark fantasy and I’m here for it. In the map, I experimented with a less fussy way of drawing Forrest’s that adds more scale which I’m super happy with and I had fun framing the map with the geometric border pattern. #mapping #fantasycartography #cartography

The hunting bird inn. I had fun drawing an inn so small I could include great levels of characterful details. I messed up the first version, the layout map didn’t agree with the 3d picture, but I’ve fixed it. I didn’t have room for so many ideas, such as an owl bear rug or a secret quiet room for the landlady to relax and unwind away from annoying customers. Maybe those things will appear in a future map… I’ll make this one available to download shortly.

Something just for fun. I might also draw the interior maps for these townhouses and shops.

A significant update to an old favourite. The client has been using the map in family games over the last year and wanted to update a few details based on in game events, including a few more interesting cities in the south west, a town in the north west that had become haunted, the change in ownership of a tower and updates to the style of a few locations. This is super easy for me to do and gave me a chance to revisit the colour scheme and bring a more vibrant map. #map #cartography #ttrpg

Maeve, a world created by alloraleanne on Twitter for her fantasy novels. A world of kingdoms, magic and dragon. I loved drawing this exiting place. Maps for novels are particularly rewarding as I get to learn about the details behind a story and being part of that process feels very satisfying to me. I definitely want to draw more maps for novels. #mapping #mapping #dragons #cartography #ttrpg

I decided to colour the regions of the map, which I think makes it both more useful and visually interesting. Colour and shade is done, I might add a gentle highlight but first I’ll need to colour the border. Almost there. #cartographer #ttrpg

Colour is progressing on this map of the country of Maeve... #linedrawing #cartography #ttrpg

Dragons are much harder than they look to draw. I think I thought they wouldn’t be too bad but getting the exact poses looking right is mad tricky and wings seem to usually end up looking just wrong. Anyway colour next. Commission is a novel map for alloraleanne on Twitter. #dragons #ttrpg #cartography #novel #map #fantasymaps
