Der Mann ist mehrmals darauf aufmerksam gemacht worden, dass er seine Redezeit überzieht. Er ist nicht imstande oder willens, Fragen zufriedenstellend zu beantworten. The Thunderbird developers listened to their users and removed tracking entirely. Only the beta version of version 8 contained the telemetry. The final release no longer does, at least for now.

For context: That TV channel ”Welt“ (German for ”world“) is a right-wing anti-immigrant propaganda channel, and part of the disgusting Axel Springer press. It’s not much different from Fox News in the US. That channel plays a huge role in pushing Germany back to fascism.

They want to be able to identify asylum seekers coming to Germany who can’t or don’t want to show their ID, among other things.
It's unlikely that Germany will build its own database. The most likely scenario is that they simply buy the database from Palantir.

The problem with humans is that most of them are cowards.
They tell themselves that they would be one of the good guys and OF COURSE they’d do the right thing, in case it ever came to it, so that they can sleep at night. But when it’s time to speak up, they stay silent and, ashamed, look the other way, to cope with the pain of knowing that they would actually NOT do the right thing.

I know it’s way too late to remove images of yourself from the web because they’re already in some US company’s (or other foreign) database anyway.
But every German should remove their photos from social media because until yesterday, at least German authorities were legally forbidden to use or store any social media pictures.
Now that these laws are gone, German police will compile their database of their own, and use it. Germans don’t want to be in that database that is yet to be compiled.

Germany's Nancy Faeser (minister of the interior) has to be one of the worst women in Europe and possibly even one of the worst European politicians, regardless of gender.
They just don't give a shit that hundreds of thousands protested against right-wing politics in January and do not want this. They push their agenda anyway.
She knowingly violates the German constitution with her immoral acts and refuses to acknowledge the decisions of her boss and 98.8% of her party.

I’m ashamed of #Germany’s government and furious at it. Yesterday they passed an illegal law that grants police Orwellian permissions and takes away the most basic human rights from refugees. Germany is now a dystopian surveillance state that—against its own constitution—uses dubious AI methods with your social media pictures to identify you.
What disappoints the most is that it isn’t even a traditionally right-wing party that’s in power but the center who voted for this and shifted rightwards.

Mozilla bought the excellent Android email app K-9 (which didn’t include any trackers) and integrated trackers as part of #Mozilla‘s rebranding under the #Thunderbird name.
They even made it opt-out instead of opt-in. Their defense for breaking the law: ”we wouldn’t have enough data if we obeyed the law.“
It doesn’t matter whether you ”anonymized“ the data or not: If you want to extract data from someone’s device to yours, you may do so only if they knowingly consented.

The same people (Ministry of the Interior)—or rather their head, Nancy Faeser, a surveillance fanatic—is also currently establishing a police state in Germany that puts both 1984 and Hitler's Gestapo to shame.
She allows police to use ClearviewAI to establish omnipresent face recognition video surveillance. She already allowed police to search your pockets for no reason when before it was allowed only in known criminal hot spots.

I never worked at Facebook, but having reading a bit about them and given how many toxic managers have invaded the company, I can totally imagine the following scenario:
Many managers there are more concerned about pushing a project to release with their name attached to it, than delivering a good product.
So maybe an engineer even advocated for strong security measures. But their toxic project manager overruled them and just didn’t care for anything not visible at their promotion time.

Ich nutze schlicht deren Angebot nicht mehr, d.h. ich verzichte.
Wenn ich bei meinem nächsten Besuch in Disneyland z.B. im Restaurant an einer Erdnussallergie sterbe, möchte ich nicht, dass Disney sich vor allen Zahlungen an meine Hinterbliebenen drücken kann, weil ich damals den AGB von Disney+ zugestimmt habe, in denen es heißt, ich verzichte auf Schadensersatzforderungen.

What worries me even more than the courtiers are the acolytes. The courtiers at least get a place at court for their ass-kissing.
When you tell someone you’re not on Twitter because it’s a cesspool full of Nazis, hatespeech, misinformation and propaganda … and they tell you they don’t really see that … and then go on to defend #Musk who doesn’t even know they exist.

Wozu wollen die Leute überhaupt eine Bridge zwischen Gruppenchats?
Gruppenchats sind von Natur aus flüchtig. Einmal 5 Minuten nicht hingesehen, und schon ist die eigene Frage vor neuen Beiträgen (teils mit Zusammenhang, teils ohne Zusammenhang) um mindestens eine Bildschirmlänge nach oben gescrollt und von der Bildschirmfläche verschwunden.
Den Chat durch Bridges zu vergrößern sorgt nur dafür, dass die eigene Frage schneller ins Nichts entschwindet.
Ein Forum ist die bessere Wahl.

The EU Commission operates on entirely wrong premisses.
Facebook et al. are reporting more cases of child abuse to the police than ever before.
Therefore, Ylva Johansson claims that the supposed sudden rise of child abuse justifies/requires mass surveillance.
But as we all know, ChatGPT is highly unreliable. As are the tools that scan for child abuse. Most of all cases reported by Facebook et al. aren't child abuse. The false positives doubled since 2022.
