#HuggingFace is reportedly up for sale, with #Nvidia a potential buyer. Talk about money circulating within ecosystems built on dominant dependencies…
Nvidia benefits from a rich AI landscape: open and closed models, local and cloud, consumer devices and thousands of new AI datacenters.
The bigger question is how far Nvidia’s dominance will grow… and what that could mean for #ASML.

Projects like:
👌 #ForgeFed (https://forgefed.org)
👌 and #OpenCloudMesh (https://nlnet.nl/project/OpenCloudMesh/) show what the internet could be: open and federated, not locked in.
But if public organizations don’t support and invest in this, who will?
A city thrives on connections. But imagine a city owned by 1 company, where residents are customers it would resist building roads to competing cities.
The digital world is no different.
Public institutions must demand, build and use neutral & open infra‼️

yep, we saw that before…
When something is truly important, such as deciding where and how someone’s personal data is stored… it is a choice to handle it yourself or not. Outsourcing may be efficient, but it also means giving up control. Some responsibilities may simply be too important to delegate.

You’re absolutely right that the screenshot provides a personal context about one individual’s specific career. Apart from this person, I think the role of CTO implicitly requires someone to have visionary and leadership skills. That’s where I want to put the focus, rather than on the extent to which Marco Peters possesses these qualities.

We’ll see! Always worth giving it a shot on the Fediverse, you never know if a hidden gem (no pointing fingers, ahem like @npub1mgr…tvhu, ahem, kuch kuch) has already come up with a brilliant idea in the past to make it work!
If not, then we’re left with those words of JFK about FOSS:
💡 “Ask not what Open Source can do for you, but what you can do for Open Source!”

Setting up a sector-wide #PeerTube pilot instance on behalf of Dutch higher ed & research using #SSO via #SAML, so no local usernames/passwords…
Anyone with experience using the #REST #API for system integration purposes? No classic #OAuth flow here… or is it possible?!

The #NoKings protests today throughout the US, with insane numbers of spirited, brave and fed-up protesters, is in such an extreme and unbelievable contrast with the uncritical and cowardly tech-billionaires applauding like fan-boys from the front row seats during the inauguration.

In the category: how to make the #Fediverse and #Mastodon better, step by step... 🌱
The University of Twente (@npub13kr…pfna) has made it possible to enter and verify a Mastodon account on the personal profile page at the university! 🔒
The green checkmark, also on places that are important in the #academic ecosystem! ✅📚

🛑 If a country like #Ukraine can be abandoned, despite the strategic consequences that will shape the next decades or even century…why do universities, organizations or nations still believe there’s even the slightest hesitation to flip the “kill switch” on their Azure, Google Cloud, or Salesforce environment?
🚨 Do we all fully grasp the sheer contempt and hate that Musk and his circle hold for education and the so-called “leftist woke-mind-virus” science?

Just connected the @npub1cfv…9fjt #PeerTube (pilot) video platform:
▶️ video.edu.nl (focused on research, science and education) with
▶️ @npub1nfj…zvu2 (focus on technology and society) and
▶️ @npub18kk…0r8c (advocating for a better internet)
The process was incredibly smooth… no restarts or any bumps. In just seconds, we federated 3 platforms across the #Fediverse using #ActivityPub in live action and combining hundreds of videos from trusted partners!
#smooth #openStandards #stepByStep
Thank you @npub17gp…7p4g ‼️❤️💪

Dear community and #mastoadmin!
I want to make a list of #Mastodon content Scheduling tools to share with educational social media teams.
It can be part of a bigger Social Media Management Platform such as Buffer or Publer, but it should at least support scheduling content to publish to a Mastodon account.
If you know one, or have some experience with them (good or bad) please share!
Open Source, As a Service, payed, free(mium), all good!
