Last Notes npub1hm2k929djcenq3auvmselk7h0tf78vszh495ld0cnttpv62apmlqyz37ks Jon Bosak @npub1h56…ch5t No doubt. But they won't let me post any pictures of the kid! npub1hm2k929djcenq3auvmselk7h0tf78vszh495ld0cnttpv62apmlqyz37ks Jon Bosak #retrobosak (A note for people who have been following this series) I'll be leaving in a few days for a two-week visit with my 2-yo granddaughter. (Oh yeah, and her parents, too.) I've discovered that it takes just as much time to "print" these old negatives as it used to take me in the darkroom, and for pretty much the same reasons. I can barely keep up with my promise to show one roll a day. So I'll be taking the next two weeks off. Still checking here every day, just not posting photos. npub1hm2k929djcenq3auvmselk7h0tf78vszh495ld0cnttpv62apmlqyz37ks Jon Bosak @npub1h56…ch5t They're tilted in different directions, which I ... don't get. npub1hm2k929djcenq3auvmselk7h0tf78vszh495ld0cnttpv62apmlqyz37ks Jon Bosak @npub1h56…ch5t I just realized that the focal-plane shutter rendered the whitewalls as (slightly) elliptical. You don't see that nowadays. npub1hm2k929djcenq3auvmselk7h0tf78vszh495ld0cnttpv62apmlqyz37ks Jon Bosak @npub1h56…ch5t Very simple technique (though luck has something to do with it). Just 1/25 or 1/30 and follow through. npub1hm2k929djcenq3auvmselk7h0tf78vszh495ld0cnttpv62apmlqyz37ks Jon Bosak @npub1h56…ch5t That's a very ecological way of looking at it. npub1hm2k929djcenq3auvmselk7h0tf78vszh495ld0cnttpv62apmlqyz37ks Jon Bosak #photolab 1/ By the way, if ever you really want to learn all about classical #filmphotography, the best sources I know of are the two volumes of the U.S. Navy Training Courses in Photography (NAVPERS 10371-A and B). They were first published in 1944; I have the 1953 version. Given the choice between these and Ansel Adams, I would take these. npub1hm2k929djcenq3auvmselk7h0tf78vszh495ld0cnttpv62apmlqyz37ks Jon Bosak A cartooning tutorial in one cartoon. Hey, digital photographers, a question for you. I took this photo 55 years ago, and the neg looks as good as it did the day it came out of the film dryer. If kept carefully (which I haven't done till now), it will no doubt last another 55. What do you figure the odds are that the family pics you take today will be this easily readable half a century from now? Just asking. These cameras are optically identical to the next several decades of that line, and boy are they cheap. I just had my two (acquired well used in 1980) CLA'd, and I wouldn't trade them for a later model. npub1hm2k929djcenq3auvmselk7h0tf78vszh495ld0cnttpv62apmlqyz37ks Jon Bosak @npub1hu7…4g0d I feel your pain. I got an 80mm lens for my old C33 body, but it wouldn't crank, so I assumed the body was bad. I got another body that worked fine out of the box but soon wouldn't focus at infinity. (Refunded.) Ordered another body that happened to have an 80mm attached, and the frame counting was bad. But I swapped the new 80mm for the one on my old camera, and this combo now works great. Go figure. Everything was working when sent to me. Age brings a certain fragility....
