11:00 -- I also immediately assumed we were talking about a mouse as in the biological organism, not the computer input device.

I think seeing the same approach used elsewhere would help; it certainly makes me feel better about it to hear it's a fairly common approach. But, of course, even a sound approach can be insecure if all the implementation details aren't just right, so I would still be a bit loathe to place my trust in a new, bespoke, closed-source implementation that has not (to my knowledge) had a 3rd-party security audit. Especially if you're trusting all your photos (potentially pretty private) to it.

It seems like #Signal accounts have to be recreated after some amount of activity; I know several people who had used Signal a year ago or so, but then recently my client said I'd need to invite them and they said that they seemed to need to setup their account again. Is this behavior actually documented and/or explained somewhere? I couldn't seem to find anything authoritative on a quick search. #lazyweb

I guess I was assuming that FHE was still far from being practical (having not followed this topic much). Are you talking about something plausibly useful for some practical purpose or more of a proof of concept?
OTOH, I guess the real killer app for crypto would be if it could provide confidentiality and proof of work all at once. 😜
