jes!

the plan:
- intended for single users, like a personal brain extension
-customizable css
- custom markup lang (very lite, as plaintext as posslbe)
- very short urls (https://j3s.sh/$pagename)
- pages are saved as text-files-written-to-disk with git autocommits (similar to mycorrhiza)
- text is in "blocks" that process parts of pages differently - like edna[0] - for todo lists, images, etc
- pages editable via web interface (rudimentary phone support)
- autolinks between pages
- picture upload interface (^V with a pic in clipboard will upload the pic + paste appropriate markup)
- rss support for certain pages (for long form posts that are blog-ish)
i want to replace https://j3s.sh and https://abyss.j3s.sh w this one system -- all old links will redirect to the new wiki. it's been quite an undertaking so far
i'm calling it Oblivion

i'd love to read up on your thoughts, if you have anything written about this - seriously considering going all-in.

i think one of the problems w/ traditional communes is their inherent isolationism - typically they mandate a retreat. live in the woods, be self sufficient.
i wonder about "digital communes" - communes that prioritize digital acts of creation, in order to maximize their impact.
instead of growing crops & selling them locally, a digital commune might produce software, art, or games -- and release them online, publicly, maybe with optional donations.
part of digital commune culture would be public writing - sharing knowledge gained by building self sufficient survival systems. stuff like this would make it easier for other folks to get started.
in totally unrelated news, i have acquired a 10acre plot of remote land, and i'm moving out there w/ my van this summer.

is there a written philosophy that adequately captures the spirit of merveilles?
i relate it to alan watts, to emily dickinson, to communes, DIY, and human spirit. to humanity - bleeding souls and poets, lukewarm nihilism, and. well. the feeling of being lost - feeling out of place with the world.
are we tech bohemians? is this a distinct movement?

if you’re not introducing a new interface and ruining the muscle memory of your users every 6 months, are you even a real tech company?

this little poem is inspired by my thoughts on wikis being a better medium for personal websites than blogs, and should be the default choice.
blogs _seem_ obvious, but they're actually unintuitive and very disruptive to the creative process.
blogs demand that you edit, perfect, trim, idealize anything you're about to publish. the barrier-to-entry _feels_ high.
wikis are forgiving - they don't care if you have a page called "fjlorb" that you jot random interesting words down in. wikis are life companions - they contain lists, images, projects, dreams.
blogs contain a list of posts.
all snail the personal wiki movement.

i've worked in tech (in infrastructure) for more than a decade & i'm learning like 10 new things per night & the format is maybe the most digestible i've ever seen
