with Aras here, we also have one of the true roots of unity involved!

you should see someone about that, that's very denormal behavior

we had to converge on this pun eventually, in the limit

so you are saying it is fractionally wrong?

The recent emergence of fractional CTOs strongly suggests that everyone else so far employed irrational CTOs.

having so much garbage that you drown in it is surely il-legal.

don't really know who to call on. I have a gut feeling we'll be left to collect lots of garbage if we delegate to naively.

I do, but I fear I that giving them to you would make you il-advised

I've heard that one doesn't just do mono but even stereo!

What do you call C# compiler engineers? il-literate. (Sorry.)

Unity has updated their DOTS Samples repository with two new documents: "Misconceptions about DOTS and Entities" and a performance checklist.
They are both really good and should be pinned because they are a fantastic step towards undoing a lot of confusion that Unity's communication has caused in the past.
Find them linked in the ReadMe here:

We interrupt our regularly scheduled tweets on program performance for a PSA on my dear hobby of listening to unabashedly silly music, which for once is somewhat topical:

Importers are under-documented, which is a shame because they are inherently hard to get right. Even Unity's own scripted importers are somewhat broken.
Maybe some friction to stop people from shooting themselves into their feet unless they actually put in the work is intentional?

I wrote some words (with an example!) about how to write custom async on-demand importers in Unity: https://blog.s-schoener.com/2024-11-22-unity-async-imports/
