unfortunately the best balance I found for this solution was @npub19kd…t56d Bridge as they are encrypted at rest. PGP works but you have to PGP encrypt all the emails.
Email is always difficult to properly secure to modern standards due to the nature of how old the tech is.

I should also add to this thread as I forgot to mention #Crowdstrike is expecting the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) by end of the week as we were told. If/When that happens expect further updates, and content on YouTube and/or Tiktok. furthermore, the issue with #Crowdstrike lasted only one hour, and while the impact was large and effected where I work as well. We remediated somewhere around 95% of issues within 14 hours. Which honestly then shifts the issue with many businesses who felt impacts for far longer than a day as to how poor their BCP and DR planning has actually been. I mean Delta was still down last I checked, as were some other companies. Yes CS impact was bad, companies planning may have been worse #Infosec

So it looks like the faulty issue with #Crowdstrike was neither kernel drivers nor code, but a configuration file. Too many people jumped to the conclusion of "Mac is better as it doesn't allow kernel level" that's a whole other conversation, especially in light of the fact Windows allowed kernel level access due to an agreement with the EU back in 2009. But this is why I regularly said in my content I am waiting for the RCA to be sure. I'll work on having some content about this later #InfoSec

I show how they are doing blockchain, now it’s FDA because they’re not selling you something but the FDA isn’t ERP, they are government and I already said government is slow to adopt new technology I mean the government still uses systems running FORTRAN FFS. blockchain can be updated, and yes it’s being looked at for many ERP’s in private blockchains. I used to do ERP consulting. Do a little googling you’ll see there’s a lot of people looking into private blockchains to solve many problems that don’t involve cryptocurrency.
Don’t conflate what cryptocurrency does with what a private blockchain is capable of doing.

It's not really trivial when you can modify a SQL database without an audit trail. Blockchain relies on the output of the previous block to determine the next block so if you go back and alter it, it invalidates blocks forward.
These are actual benefits known to blockchain, and keep in mind I am saying blockchain which can exist outside of cryptocurrency. You can have blockchain without being tied to cryptocurrency. Cryptocurrency happens to be one of the most well known uses of it

you never specified better, you said a project that has actual utility. I also said government is slow to adopt new technologies. It doesn't disprove anything when there are many projects competing in the space to do the same thing. There are many reasons blockchain has advantages such as an immutable ledger.
I don't believe blockchain solves or should be used for everything but there are many cases blockchain, even without cryptocurrency has advantages.

Monero, ICP, ADA. XTZ, Bitcoin, Ethereum. Yes there are BS projects on some of those chains but most of these have utility at some level.
XTZ actually was used in a local election for example for voing on a public works projects of some kind

yes, I have one for work/content creation related things and one for personal things. Then all MFA OATH seeds are backup and stored in KeePassXC that I then encrypt with Veracrypt.
I used to use separate KeePassXC databases but that became inconvenient when using multiple machines and phones when updating credentials. So I had to make changes and Bitwarden is $10/year and Protonpass is already part of my package

I actually already have emerging threats in my list. But thank you for helping. So in PfSense you use PfblockerNG and import the lists and it parses it for IP or DNS addresses and then adds to the blocklist. It's stupid easy actually.

yeah I was planning to blow away my Pop!_OS and unlink the ZRAID 1 SATA array I used to use for backup later, but wanted to slate that for my Pop!_OS 24.04 upgrades when it is fully released.

I have a feeling my occassional stutters in Pop!_OS may be some memory issues in my main Linux workstation as it had the similar G.Skil memory I had just replaced in my Windows streaming box that was having memory issues.
Well this is annoying, and why I usually stick to Crucial memory. I'll have to do a memtest86+ run after my stream, but I haven't noticed any other major issues.
If it is the problem, hopefully the Tiktok and Twitch money can cover it

I've not seen anything, in fact the Cert pinning is damn solid! We have to disable Zscaler SSL inspection to even allow @npub1rkw…5q62 to work.
The only issue I saw with Signal possibly "compromised" in any way was when Twilio was compromised as they did use them for verification services.
But that was like two years ago and since then they've also added usernames so you don't need to give out phone numbers

There are only two messaging apps I fully endorse when people communicate with me. @npub1rkw…5q62 and @npub1m9z…whzq . Yes while I use Discord, text, and even iMessage. The recent stances from both Matrix and @npub1vt7…5vdp towards the EU Chat Control proposal's even as an American, reaffirm that I have made the wise choice.
The fact that I have proven first hand the that we had to whitelist Signal in Zscaler to even work because it won't allow MITM, proves even as a hosted app it can be trusted. #Infosec

I have many complaints about my country, the USA, but the first amendment and fifth amendments give us some pretty good arguments against the EU's chat control proposal. Not to say we don't have boomers trying to undermine those rights as well and things like the Patriot act among others.
This is utterly embarrassing for the EU for the same country that created the GDPR. I know they have withdrawn the vote, but in my opinion it should have never even been a consideration.

My Mastodon server still feels overpowered for the number of users on this server. There's only about about two dozen users on here and most aren't that active.
Meanwhile this server on @npub18sk…l2gu currently has 24 processing threads, 24GB of Database space, and 240GB of media storage space.
All because this is pretty well federated so the database is kind of large. Either way still happier to be on Mastodon than Twitter. I'll try and get more friends on this server.

So for me the issue wasn't the media storage, that was only half full around 145GB of about 320GB. My issue was the database was growing so fast, primarily from relays. I was at around 32GB and had it reduced to 20GB.
@npub18sk…l2gu ran "tootctl status remove" on my instance, which had a huge impact as I was heavily using relays in the past, reducing the DB size by 1/3.
This is one of many reasons I am more than happy to keep using Mastohost as my provider :D

Server maintenance on this server has been completed thanks to @npub18sk…l2gu and the database has decreased from 32GB to around 20GB thanks to running a cleanup command of some stale items from when I was heavily using relays.
As such the server plan has been decreased from $69/month on the Constellation +4 plan to about $49/month with a Constellation +1 plan.
This should hold me over for some time now as relays have decreased from 9 to a mere 2.

I've reduced the content retention settings to 548 days from 730 days to start emptying the db and seeing effects. I believe posts older than 1.5 - 2 years are not really relevant anyway as we're basically just farting into the internet. I may reduce this temporarily to 365 days and shoot it back to 730 days later as I had gone a little crazy with adding relays a while ago and my database is close to 32GB right now. So I've been blocked from going on Live on Tiktok until June 20th at around 9PM EST for "Hate Speech and Hateful Behaviors." It's funny as I simulcast to Twitch and all I was discussing was Cybersecurity.
You can even see that is the case on the Twitch VOD. As someone who receives actual hate speech very often on my content this is why it's hard to take Tiktok seriously

I’m very close to finishing my personal laptop which is using @npub1f5q…vss4 on my @npub1qy0…nsak Librem 14. In my religion we treat abortion case by case and the physical AND psychological health of the mother always comes first. I don’t appreciate people imposing their personal religious beliefs especially when it infringes on another’s rights.

So tomorrow is going to suck I need upgrade my PfSense firewall and apparently there is a bug that requires a reinstall to get it fixed as the partition was too small. It took some tinkering but got @npub1f5q…vss4 reinstalled during my #Twitch stream on my @npub1qy0…nsak Librem 14. Had to rework some of the steps based off documentation to get the #Monero with wallet isolation going. Basically grabbed the tar ball and extracted it to a folder in the template Qube and then had the systemd run that. VPN is setup with @npub1xh7…v9hj and I am loving the GUI updates to Qubes now marking Dark mode easier except for a few places. #infosec

*sigh* I think I have to backup my PfSense firewall in my home, and then completely reinstall it. Updates are failing and citing lack of disk space. Looking into it this was apparently an issue with older installs of PfSense and the automatic partitioning. So guess I will do a backup, and then make notes, and also redo my blocklists as I was wrongfully blocking too many things. Although it was fun to see @npub18w5…gmlf struggle

already use Aitum just waiting on a TikTok stream key from my live agency which takes 10 days to process
I know how to restream the issue is limited upload bandwidth so I have to externally use a restreamer to save bandwidth. Because between TikTok (720p) and Twitch (1080p) I am pushing 9Mbps. If I maintain the same quality when simulcast to YT and OC we’re talking 27Mbps combined which is half my current upload assuming no other load which I have with my homelab

I plan to speak to my attorney to engage him on the TikTok scams using my content and imagery to push cryptocurrency and stock scams.
Since all of them are using my custom logo that I have the rights to as a friend made it for me as a commission. That’s my way to take these down.
I also need to engage him on some family matters. I’ve known him for a few years and hopefully can work out a tenable arrangement on both matters.

there’s a reason my mastodon server is invite only and I have to generate an invite and message them. I don’t want to moderate as it’s mentally taxing, so I only invite people I know are chill. But if anyone becomes a problem child they will get the boot.
So far in my entire server I’ve only had one report.

I may potentially scrap the idea of hosting my own restreamer for restream.io due to costs. I do plan to simulcast to Twitch, Tiktok, Youtube, and Owncast probably after #DEFCON.
TikTok will go direct from OBS to TikTok as it’s vertical format but the rest all use the same horizontal format.
I plan to use a tool to merge all platform chats to the same window for myself so I can see TikTok, Twitch, YouTube, and Owncast messages in one window.

it's not open source but Veeam with an encrypted S3 bucket is an option if I am understanding correctly. they have a free plan. I personally use a Synology NAS and backup to Wasabi S3 from there

Maybe it's just because I'm a millennial who grew up with the internet before community guidelines were a thing but my response was "only 25% below 12 have seen adult content? that is a lot better than when I was a kid" definitely an improvement, but more can be done for sure.

yeah I am weird, I got used to lighter mice after a while and use a G502 with no weights, but I did just swap the G502 out of my streaming PC for a Ploopy Adept trackball I 3D Printed to save some space as I have a kind of cramped 2 PC stream setup, and I love the heavier trackball a lot more. I put a vintage 8 ball in my mouse.

it does feel weird because it's metal and I was expecting it to be heavy, but it's as light as my Logitech G903 with the powerplay puck.
I don't know if I will use this as my regular mouse on my workstation, but I think it will be my new travel mouse for when I need to connect a laptop to something, especially since this one has bluetooth and the regular wireless dongle. Because I needz my side scrolling in my G502 and G903 mice.

I was sent this mouse made of Magnesium to test out a bit from a vendor for TikTok. Bluetooth, and wireless with a dongle but also can work as a wired mouse. It has up to 4KHz polling with the adapter, and up to 26,000 DPI. I like the design (this is a battle worn design), added the grip stickers it came with, which look nice and add a nice texture. There is lighting built in. It’s very light and honestly my only complaint so far, lack of side scrolling.

while I do have respect for GrapheneOS and their efforts it’s the way they communicate with others and got really upset when I mentioned there are different threat models, and what does one do if they don’t trust Google hardware?
Again I still use a Pixel 7a with GrapheneOS but it’s an issue of people and communication skills
