I’m tired of getting emails for services with essentially “we laid off a bunch of engineers to better serve you and that’s why we’re raising our prices. To serve you. We promise it’s for you. And not just because our CEO needs a bigger bonus. But yeah, enjoy the same service, now with ads, at a higher price.”

Late 90s, I flew from SF to Boston with a hard drive preconfigured and loaded with a new set of software for a test system.
It was deemed the fastest way to deploy a critical patch. And I could be there to manually test the system afterwards.

In Python, globals are fine.
- unpopular opinion
A “global” is just global to a module, so it’s not really global, it’s contained in the module namespace.
A module with functions and “global” data can be thought of as a singleton object in a lot of cases.
Chill on the no globals thing.

I’m looking forward to Tuesday, as it’s a day that is never “cyber” or “black” and can just be Tuesday.

I just started using architecture decision records.
I’m liking it so far, even for solo projects.
I’m just using an in-repo docs/adr folder and using hand copy/paste/modify markdown files with one template file. Nothing fancy.

I think cell carriers should be able to tell this is phishing and just block this

I got an IP a couple years ago and make exactly one recipe with it, a spiced chicken to use for taco meat. I need to try more.

I love cooking. Try different cuisines. I enjoy Indian and Thai curry recipes. Some regional cuisines confuse me and seem like tons of work.

We spread garden compost last year, and now these little guys are growing all over the garden. So cute. Anyone know what variety they are?
