Many barely cared for their young because they themselves were under constant stress.
Over time, a new group emerged, which Calhoun called "the Beautiful Ones":
Males that didn't fight, didn't participate in social life, and didn't reproduce.
They spent their time exclusively eating, sleeping, and grooming.
Phase 3: Collapse
After some time, a large part of the colony consisted of:
