Like, there's this idea Democratic primaries and elections are perfectly responsive to the popular will. Frictionlessly, even. Which I think discounts the amount of money sloshing around behind the scenes, which is strictly controlled, as well as the compromises the party and this racist, sexist country have conditioned us to accept in terms of what's possible and who is allowed to win.

They undoubtedly want to avoid the worst possible outcomes, and Trump is definitely the guy who would ruin everything by crashing their economy.
Besides, who needs fascism when you're already rich and powerful?

Like, I don't know how to tell people who are hung up on branding that the reason Democrats and the media constantly insist on moving to the right or center has nothing to do with winning elections but with preserving the institutional power of old, wealthy, white people, mostly men, and blocking the rest of us from enacting desperately needed changes.
