Mail admins: the blocklist.de dnsbl has been down for me for at least a couple of weeks now. Is it just me?

What happened to Odysee? (I never used it but their platform was fine, wasn't it?)

I have no qualms admitting I've had so much fun hanging out in the fringes at the "behind the curtain" places on the Internet, during the HW Bush and Obama era, about all kinds of topics that weren't exactly popular back then. I was in my twenties, reality was mysterious and so, yeah, the conspiratorial mindset to me was fun, like a science fiction novel, The Matrix in a sense. All with a sense of humor, a "could be, who knows", keeping an open mind.
It wasn't as serious to me then then as it has become to people now. And the further we progress the less I feel comfortable with that. And even though I know I am just a backend sysadmin, and have never even tried to influence the productions I operationally support (nor do I even have a desire to influence them even now as I'm typing this) I do feel I should speak out my own ideas, especially after some people have kind of tried to make me feel like an outsider in the communities I set up and maintain to this day.
Being grounded in evidence-based reasoning is how we can survive in a world of spin. A modern worldview that recognizes the benefits of modern medicine, understands the reality of nuclear radiation, and knows the Earth is round doesn't undermine critical inquiry – it strengthens it.
The scientific method does not exist to enslave people. The Earth is round. We can calculate the density of Jupiter. There is no great Jewish conspiracy. Viruses do exist and modern healthcare including vaccines have a real, benevolent, purpose for the benefit of mankind.
Has nothing ever gone wrong? Of course not. Have there been abuses? Yes very much so. Is everything going great, there are no bad people? No, of course not. Tyranny exists, tyrannical governments exist, corporate greed exists, sky-high ivory towers exist, incompetency exists, and so on. I'm not rejecting any of that.
What I am rejecting, however, is the wholesale abandonment of reality in favor of fear-driven fantasies that shut down critical thinking altogether. It’s one thing to question authority and systems of power – those are healthy and necessary discussions. But it's another thing entirely to replace evidence with baseless speculation, to distrust everything indiscriminately, or to fall into a mindset where everything is a conspiracy.
I believe in challenging narratives and questioning the status quo, but that should never mean abandoning logic, evidence, and the tools we use to understand the world. For me, the fun of questioning has always been rooted in curiosity, not paranoia. I hope we can rediscover that balance, where skepticism is constructive and grounded, not destructive and untethered from reality.
That’s my hope for 2025 and beyond: a community where open minds are informed minds, where we can question without losing our grip on what's real. And please, where we can stop judging each other to a point of fault. Let's build that future together. May 2025 become a blessing to us all.

The first time my firm has submitted a corporate analysis / consultation report to an interested client today, after days of writing and polishing it. Proud of this accomplishment.
If they accept my recommendations - fingers crossed - I'll have a lot of work to do for them and I'm gonna treat myself to a Flipper Zero to celebrate. Or an RTL-SDR. Or both.

Now that my boys are of suitable age I'm teaching them all I know about electricity. It's not that much, I'm still learning, but we got off to a good start and now we're exploring things. I built an LED system with an Arduino and bunch of buttons and we'll take it from there. Fun!
