i think part of the reason some folk turn to AI for companionship is how judgemental people are. like, you can't vent, because that's emotional labor. you can't discuss things too earnestly, because then you're dunked on for being cringe. what's wrong with robots when we all lack humanity?
like i was talking to a friend last night and they confided in me that they use claude, and i asked, "but why, though" and their response made me pretty sad.

I get that people have the best of intentions when they try to argue that Star Trek isn't a dead franchise, but... this is a series that once had a member of a resistance group inspired by real life Palestinian resistance as a sympathetic main character. And now it's apolitical CGIslop owned by a corporation that runs a blacklist of any actor who's ever spoken in support of Palestine.

i need y'all to understand that the moderate who tells you that you can't protect marginalized people from fascists because it'll paint progressives as dangerous criminals is just as vital a component of fascism as the goon actively rounding up those marginalized people.
fascism's true believers are *very* few in number. the bulk of fascism's power comes from treacherous moderates who will tell you that, yes, fascism is bad - but resistance is worse.

FWIW, Lexi's been promoting upscrolled lately, which is a newish social media app that is apparently owned by a Palestinian. It seems like an IG-esque app but with more support for text posts. My biggest concern with it is no desktop interface, but I emailed the site and they said that is planned for the next few months.

Bluesky, in yet another act of anti-Palestinian racism, has suspended the Palestinian filmmaker and activist Lexi Alexander.
Bluesky is not a safe platform for Palestinians, or (to a lesser extent) for people who advocate for Palestine. Every morning I wake up to notifications for replies from fundraising Palestinians, and by the time I'm awake enough to give them a proper look, the accounts have already been deleted.
