Went to a Solstice bonfire potluck tonight. Back in the woods up and against the mountains, down a dirt road that washes out in big rains, up the top of a hill across a weedy meadow. There’s a wood splitter and chainsaw, a tractor, a garden. My friend, a woman, lives there alone.
On nights like this when the stars are loud, you hear coyotes and owls. And a train down in the valley.

Secret Maps were critical tools of empires. The Padrón Real was Spain's secret official master map in the 1500s, kept by the Casa de Contratación in Seville. Ship pilots had to use government copies and report new discoveries so the map was constantly updated by leading cartographers. It covered a wall in a guarded room built just for the map, with a staff to care for it. Intentional "map traps" were flaws added to copies for royal pilots to catch thieves and forgeries.

Jefferson used an oculus in the round bathhouse he built in Warm Springs, Virginia. Modeled after the Pantheon in Rome built in the second century AD and still standing.
The pools are fed by hot springs bubbling out of the ground. After this photo was taken, we were floating in the water looking up at the sky, when a tiny rain cloud drifted over and sprinkled cool sparkling rainbow of rain down on us. Then drifted off. Amazing.

German security teams found bi-directional backdoors to servers in China that 1) allow 24/7 remote surveillance 2) receive remote commands.
The robots are semi-autonomous with AI.
A ready made robot army distributed all over the world. And if AI takes over and even blccks control from China . . .

It is! This is ¾“. Was going to use 1” which would be twice as strong but also twice as heavy. Decided that was overkill since I have a trailer for heavy stuff. Connectors come from MakerPipe. Super helpful website and company. Lots of ideas there.

Boat / board rack complete!
Took it for a drive at highway speeds. Sturdy and stable. A little whistling from the wind, but not as bad as expected. Can lift it in and lock it down in a couple of minutes.
