Last Notes npub1kdurajd8px5h2dcc5q5r2hk4m0q3m3p4zmvswne2j0z60fx5x0qs2q4sum Helga @nprofile…l2h8 @nprofile…y4jh @nprofile…wsge thanks for the suggestion! It looks awesome, but despite my best efforts, Emacs continues to be a bridge too far for me - I just can't make sense of the keyboard shortcuts and the frames, windows and buffers. IDK why it just doesn't click with my brain. npub1kdurajd8px5h2dcc5q5r2hk4m0q3m3p4zmvswne2j0z60fx5x0qs2q4sum Helga We've been getting this audio bug with playing Avowed on Steam on Ubuntu. Interestingly it seemed to work just fine when I started steam from the command line, but is erratic when starting steam from the gui. Occasionally Steam won't launch, too; so I suspect there's something going on with the whole launch process that is failing to initiate something, and causing an issue with alsa vs pipewire. I know pipewire is installed. Been a while since I had to troubleshoot a Linux issue, it's usually so seamless these days. (It's the variability that is confusing me - opening sound menu and toggling worked one day, not the next.) I'll have to work out how to do it logically and write down my steps. npub1kdurajd8px5h2dcc5q5r2hk4m0q3m3p4zmvswne2j0z60fx5x0qs2q4sum Helga @nprofile…vkph love this. (swapping out 'bar' for 'coffee shop') npub1kdurajd8px5h2dcc5q5r2hk4m0q3m3p4zmvswne2j0z60fx5x0qs2q4sum Helga The most annoying thing about my younger child transitioning is that now I have to add 'elder' and 'younger' when writing a descriptor referring to one or the other. Admittedly it helps that they dealt with all the name and identity change stuff themselves, the paperwork would have done my head in. npub1kdurajd8px5h2dcc5q5r2hk4m0q3m3p4zmvswne2j0z60fx5x0qs2q4sum Helga @nprofile…637k when you're trying to learn things it can add be quite unhelpful. Was it actually four things or three I'm supposed to remember? Was there something significant about the zero (such as a baseline state) or are they just making sure everyone knows they're a coder? npub1kdurajd8px5h2dcc5q5r2hk4m0q3m3p4zmvswne2j0z60fx5x0qs2q4sum Helga @nprofile…gqp6 @nprofile…6r7m Be interested to hear thoughts on this. ( more generally I always thought attacks were more financially motivated - ie crime syndicates - than state sanctioned, but took a subject on cyberwarfare that convinced me that state based attacks (whether direct or indirect) are much more prevalent than I'd wanted to believe. ) npub1kdurajd8px5h2dcc5q5r2hk4m0q3m3p4zmvswne2j0z60fx5x0qs2q4sum Helga @nprofile…637k zweo day? in infosec yes, though not generally in the general media news reports, as far as I've noticed. npub1kdurajd8px5h2dcc5q5r2hk4m0q3m3p4zmvswne2j0z60fx5x0qs2q4sum Helga @nprofile…d2rl Wheat, Wine and Whisky in Collingwood has queer and drag events and the food looks great. It's run by relatives of mine. https://www.wheatwinewhisky.com/ npub1kdurajd8px5h2dcc5q5r2hk4m0q3m3p4zmvswne2j0z60fx5x0qs2q4sum Helga This 2.5admins episode was really interesting. Over the years I've had so many frustrating experiences with trying to access old files, as well as with hardware paradigm shifts. The most expensive computer I ever bought was the last of the powerpc Macs, and it was effectively a brick within a very few years. So the convo around ARM and the potential future impact of the shift in processor technologies was really interesting (was that this episode or another recent @nprofile…r4y2 show? I was listening to a bunch in succession, thnx insomnia) npub1kdurajd8px5h2dcc5q5r2hk4m0q3m3p4zmvswne2j0z60fx5x0qs2q4sum Helga @nprofile…wryu @nprofile…77av @nprofile…r4y2 yeah I really appreciate the sound quality. I can have it on very low and still hear all the conversation clearly, and if I nod off to sleep, there aren't any abrupt changes of volume to wake me up. All the team are properly mic'd up too - an arts podcast I listen to, that's been around for years, often has barely-audible guests that are big names. Weird.
