'AI' Is Coming For Your Online Gaming Servers Next
> "Consumer PC parts aren't the only things being gobbled up by the 'AI' industry," writes PCWorld's Michael Crider. "A Starcraft-inspired strategy game is shutting down its multiplayer servers because the hosting company got bought out for 'AI.'" The game will still be playable offline for now, but the shutdown highlights the ripple effects of the AI boom on the gaming industry. Amid the ongoing hardware shortages, AI companies are basically gobbling up as much infrastructure as they can to repurpose it for AI workloads.

Nuclear weapons experts are warning that the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran, ostensibly launched to prevent the country from obtaining nuclear weapons, may have instead made an Iranian bomb more likely.
> That is because prior to the war, Iran was held back not by technical constraints but diplomatic considerations, say two nuclear weapons experts who were involved in past U.S. efforts to sanction and contain the country.

Iran ready to ‘dilute’ highly enriched uranium if all sanctions lifted: Nuclear chief
> Iran is prepared to dilute its highly enriched uranium if the United States lifts all sanctions on the country, the head of its atomic energy agency said Monday after talks resumed with Washington.
> “In conclusion, in response to a question about the possibility of diluting 60 percent enriched uranium... the head of the Atomic Energy Organization said that this depends on whether all sanctions would be lifted in return,” the official IRNA news agency reported, referring to agency chief Mohammad Eslami, without specifying whether this included all sanctions on Iran or only those imposed by the United States.
> Diluting uranium means mixing it with blend material to reduce the enrichment level, so that the final product does not exceed a given enrichment threshold.

Germany Signs Major Missile Deal with Diehl Defence
Germany's Bundeswehr has signed significant new contracts with Diehl Defence for missiles from the Iris-T family, boosting its air defense capabilities.
Covers short and medium-range missiles for both air-to-air combat (IRIS-T) and ground-based air defense (Iris-T SLS & SLM).
Exact numbers and value are classified, but it follows a 2023 framework agreement for over 1,200 Iris-T missiles.
The Iris-T SLM has successfully intercepted hundreds of air targets in Ukraine.
The system is in service or on order for many nations, including Sweden, Switzerland, and Denmark.
Germany plans to acquire 50 Iris-T SLM units in total, with the first delivered in 2024.
To meet demand, Diehl is investing ~€1.5 billion to expand capacity, with a new factory set to produce an extra 2,000 missiles per year.
The article mentions the Iris-T SLM is a potential candidate for Austria's planned medium-range air defense system.

Lawsuit Alleges That WhatsApp Has No End-to-End Encryption
A lawsuit filed in San Francisco alleges that #WhatsApp's end-to-end encryption contains backdoors allowing #Meta employees to access user messages in real-time.
According to the complaint, internal tools allow engineers to view chats by User ID without a separate decryption step, bypassing the Signal Protocol protections the app claims to use.
The lawsuit cites £whistleblowers who claim that workers can request access to specific accounts via internal tasks, gaining unlimited temporal scope to a user's history, including deleted messages. Meta has labeled these claims false and absurd.
Technical experts note that while the Signal Protocol itself is mathematically secure, the integrity of end-to-end encryption relies entirely on the security of the endpoints. Potential vulnerabilities in WhatsApp include unencrypted cloud backups, metadata collection, and the fact that the client software is closed-source.
Without the ability to audit the code or verify public keys through an independent directory, users must trust that the application is not exfiltrating plaintext data before it is encrypted for transit.
The legal action highlights the ongoing tension between corporate privacy marketing and the technical reality of centralized messaging platforms. If the allegations of an internal "widget" for message access are proven true, it would represent a fundamental breach of the encryption standards Meta has advertised since 2016.

Amazon’s latest 16,000 cuts sit on top of roughly 73,000 corporate roles already eliminated since 2022, as the company leans harder into AI and automation.
Amazon cuts 16,000 more corporate jobs while pouring billions into AI and automation, after roughly 27,000 cuts in 2022–23 and another 14,000 last year – about 73,000 white‑collar roles erased in the name of “efficiency.”
Meta slashed about 11,000 jobs in 2022 and another 10,000 in 2023 in its earlier “year of efficiency” pivot toward AI and infrastructure (excluding the latest 2026 Reality Labs / metaverse layoffs), while also pruning several hundred AI research roles as it refocuses on “superintelligence.”
Accenture has dumped more than 11,000 people in a global restructuring explicitly framed around AI, exiting staff they say can’t be “reskilled” for the new model.

France is rolling out Visio, a homegrown secure videoconferencing platform, to all government employees by 2027.
The move aims to replace American tools like Teams, Zoom and Webex that currently fragment public administration communications and create security vulnerabilities.
The platform already has 40,000 regular users and is being deployed to 200,000 agents. Major institutions like CNRS are switching over this quarter, with CNRS replacing Zoom for its 34,000 staff and 120,000 affiliated researchers by late March.
Visio runs on French sovereign cloud infrastructure certified by ANSSI, uses AI transcription technology from French startup Pyannote, and will add real-time subtitling from French AI lab Kyutai by summer 2026. Beyond security and digital sovereignty, the switch generates real savings of about 1 million euros per year for every 100,000 users leaving paid license solutions.
Minister David Amiel frames this as essential to protecting sensitive government data and scientific exchanges from exposure to non-European actors while supporting French tech companies.

At Davos 2026, Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney said the quiet part out loud.
The former Bank of Canada and Bank of England Governor told the global elite what American policymakers have long preferred to keep unsaid: the liberal international order only worked because nations submitted to American power.
Washington guaranteed open markets and sea lanes. Everyone else fell in line.
For decades, this arrangement was treated as natural law in Western capitals—inevitable, permanent, beyond debate.
Not anymore. When one of America's oldest allies starts publicly dissecting the conditions of its own subordination, the rules-based order isn't evolving. It's unraveling.

Hundreds Are Quarantined in South Carolina as Measles Spreads in 2 US Outbreaks
> Measles outbreaks are growing along the #Utah-#Arizona border and in #SouthCarolina, where hundreds are in #quarantine.
> Between Friday and Tuesday, South Carolina health officials confirmed 27 new measles cases in an outbreak in and around northwestern Spartanburg County. In two months, 111 people have been sickened by the vaccine-preventable virus.
> More than 250 people, including students from nine area elementary, middle and high schools, are in quarantine — some for the second time since the outbreak began in October. Most of the state's new cases stemmed from exposures at Way of Truth Church in Inman. Church leaders have been “very helpful,” said state epidemiologist Dr. Linda Bell.
> “We are faced with ongoing transmission that we anticipate will go on for many more weeks, at least in our state,” said Bell.

Important clarification on scam centers: There's no evidence the CCP runs these operations. Chinese citizens are PRIMARY VICTIMS - over 57,000 nationals arrested, many trafficking victims forced into labor. Torture and murder of Chinese workers documented inside compounds. China actively repatriating victims and shutting down operations.
The accurate statement: "Chinese mafia runs them" - organized crime syndicates, triads, transnational criminal networks operating in lawless border regions outside Chinese jurisdiction, NOT state actors.
Critical distinction: "China allows them" conflates criminal gangs (who run operations) with the Chinese government (which is cracking down). These centers cause enormous harm to Chinese citizens as both fraud victims and trafficked workers.

It baffled me too. Here's some context:
The ICC issued an arrest warrant for Putin in March 2023 for war crimes related to the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children from Ukraine. The 125 ICC member states are obliged to detain and transfer any indicted individuals if they set foot on their territory.
Hungary is a signatory to the Rome Statute but has stated it would not arrest Putin, claiming the statute has not been properly incorporated into Hungarian law.
In April 2025, Hungary announced its intention to withdraw from the ICC during a visit by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, who also faces an ICC warrant.
This withdrawal will only take effect in April 2026, meaning Hungary remains legally bound by ICC obligations until then.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó stated Hungary will "welcome Putin with respect" and provide conditions for his negotiations with Trump. Hungary previously demonstrated it would ignore #ICC warrants when it hosted Netanyahu with a red carpet welcome. Putin also visited ICC member Mongolia in 2024 without being arrested.
Germany's Foreign Ministry has stated Hungary must comply with the ICC warrant since the withdrawal has not yet taken effect.
