I completely agree that we are a world wide community and that we should not cater only to Europeans. But that doesn't change how the price is perceived from me in Europe. It's not a criticism but more of a hint that this puts the merch out of most Europeans' price range. I don't have a solution, just sharing concerns to help the campaign succeed.

I unfortunately have the same thoughts. At this price range I would be looking for European made plushies or guarantees about production and fabric but the shipping fees suggest that this is made in China and there are no details about how it's made.

I think we need to rework how we propose changes in Fedora, so I posted a proposal for a new change request process: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/NewChangeProcessDiscussion.
I also posted a bit more background about my motivations in https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/f46-change-proposal-changes-discussion-only-on-devel-list/197431/101.

This Friday is the last day to vote in the Fedora 44 elections: https://elections.fedoraproject.org
Lots of good candidates this cycle and interesting interviews.

Alongside the Fedora 44 release, I’m happy to announce that we have sealed bootable container images ready for testing for the Fedora Atomic Desktops!
Sealed bootable container images include all the components needed to create a fully verified boot chain, from the firmware to the operating system composefs image. This relies on Secure Boot on UEFI systems.
More details at https://fedoramagazine.org/sealed-atomic-desktops-test-images/ and https://github.com/travier/fedora-atomic-desktops-sealed

It's probably because you used the Fedora Flatpaks (that come by default on Silverblue) and GNOME OS uses the Flathub ones.
I recommend using Flatpaks from Flathub.
Can you share what permissions you had to fix?

I've been elected to FESCo! 🎉 [1]
Thanks to everyone who voted for me. Feel free to reach out if you want to have a chat.
If you did not vote for me, feel free to reach out as well if you feel confortable sharing why.
Now back to the work to make Fedora and all the Atomic variants awesome!

Just two days after the upstream release, KDE Plasma 6.3 is now available in all versions of Fedora Kinoite and downstream in Aurora. 🎉
Thanks to all the KDE developers, the members of the KDE SIG for the packaging and everyone that helped with testing!

I'll be at FOSDEM this weekend! I'll be giving a talk with Allison on composefs and how it fits well for image based systems: https://fosdem.org/2025/schedule/event/fosdem-2025-5191--signed-sealed-and-delivered-with-ukis-and-composefs/
Feel free to reach out if you want to meet and chat about Fedora CoreOS, Atomic Desktops, sysexts, KDE or Flatpaks. I'll likely hand around the image-based, container or Rust dev rooms.

Bootable Containers are the future of Fedora Atomic Desktops and we presented that at All Systems Go! @npub12fn…wlq6
Check out the introduction by Colin and Ben: https://media.ccc.de/v/all-systems-go-2024-266-bootc-generating-an-ecosystem-around-bootable-oci-containers
Then take a look at how we could use sysext's to improving the local layering story: https://media.ccc.de/v/all-systems-go-2024-313-waiter-an-os-please-with-some-sysext-sprinkled-on-top
And then finally dive into Trusted Boot with UKI and composefs: https://media.ccc.de/v/all-systems-go-2024-309-the-road-to-a-trusted-and-measured-boot-chain-in-bootable-containers

Great post from David Edmundson on the usage of metrics in KDE to influence development decisions: Metrics in KDE – Are they useful? https://blog.davidedmundson.co.uk/blog/metrics-in-kde-are-they-useful/
> a survey that we prompt to auto populate and submit each year
I like this approach as well. This is similar to how Steam does it. We could then update the information collected for each survey. But that might mean that only updated systems will collect the new information. Looking forward to this discussion!

Well, ID_LIKE & VARIANT & VARIANT_ID are already part of the existing standard: https://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/latest/os-release.html
But I don't know how Steam & others interpret those fields.

Bazzite does not use the Steam Flatpak if I'm not mistaken.
You can also change the content of os-release arbitrarily in container layers. The hard thing is to make it recognized and correctly grouped in Steam stats (and elsewhere).

Ah, reading again, now I get it. I don't remember which fields Steam takes into account for the stats.

I would use a different variant name but keep the Fedora ID in os-release. That would let us distinguish Universal Blue systems reporting in count me stats.
