My rough estimate: 3.84e28
Which is high enough that finding a hash with 24 leading zeros becomes quite likely.

My little pre-halving mining economics explainer:
The two most important numbers for mining economics -- total global hashrate and bitcoin price -- have changed drastically over the years. However, one measure, the 'hash price' is more stable. It estimates the daily revenue from a 1 TH/s mining capacity, in dollar terms. For most of the 5+ several years, it has been in the 0.06 -- 0.12 range (higher during peak bull market periods).
If hash price stays above 0.06, most miners will be OK. Currently it is 0.108, after the halving it will be, well, halved, to 0.054. I expect it will creep back to above 0.06 soon, by some mild drop in hashrate and some NgU.
Things balance out.

Disclaimer: this is not realistic, just a joke
The idea is to create a complete table with all 12-word BIP39 phrases, and next to each the correct last word, and the first default address. The generating software has to be validated once.
Then you download the PDF, print it out, and look up your own phrase, and find the correct last word and your first address.
I've generated the first and last pages, as a sample.
The only problem is that it takes a LOT of paper to print :DDD

It's relatively easy to create a random, 'raw' BIP39 passphrase, without using any computer, using a coin or a dice (e.g. 132 flips or throws with an unbiased item).
But can you compute the correct last word (it includes the checksum) on paper?
Can you derive a bitcoin address from the passphrase on paper? Or do you need to trust some chip, some CPU, with whatever inside?
I'm working on a solution...

I share some thoughts on accepting bitcoin.
I like to pay for things in bitcoin, I always prefer the shops that accept bitcoin, I think circular economy is important. Yet I think it's not the most important goal.
Why?
Bitcoin is both a savings and a payment tool. As a savings tool, it has NO ALTERNATIVE for me. As a payment tool, I can use alternatives (even if I don't like them). I know that there are many groups of people who can't, but must of us can.
Therefore being a savings tool is a more important feature of bitcoin. We should work towards making bitcoin savings accessible to more and more people: educate and provide tools.
I also gave some thought on who is willing most to pay with bitcoin for things, and who is more likely to accept bitcoin.
The most likely to want to pay using bitcoin is someone who:
- knows about bitcoin
-- has some bitcoin savings
--- has some bitcoin income
The most likely to want to accept payments in bitcoin is someone who:
- knows about bitcoin
-- has some bitcoin savings, and wants to expand the savings
The basis for bitcoin circular economy are all the people who want to save in bitcoin. By working towards enabling more and more people to do so, the wish for bitcoin payments will grow organically (and mostly from the merchants' side).
Orangepilling your corner coffeeshop or gym is nice, but it I think it's more important to orange pill your friends to buy bitcoin. The rest will follow, gradually then suddenly.

I agree that a ~9x increase in transaction throughput is _not_ a scaling solution, and Liquid is not a Lightning replacement or competitor. But it does make sense to take use of the lower fees of Liquid (there can be a 1000x difference).
Today it makes sense to keep long-term holdings on chain, middle-term mid sum amounts on Liquid, and short term spending on Lightning.
I would like to see expansion of direct Liquid-to-Lightning solutions, I think these would actually be beneficial for Lightning! When on chain fees are high, many people simply will not open new channels, and will gravitate towards custodial Lightning solutions. If Liquid-backed channels were an option in wallets, that would be an additional option for fee-sensitive users. Atomic Liquid-to-LN swaps exists and are convenient, but directly Liquid-based LN solutions are not mainstream (if exist at all).
On a final note, it seems that saturation of the Liquid side-chain is far in the future. When that happens, I speculate that the federation may decide to increase the capacity. An increase by a small factor will not solve scaling, but may be beneficial for the middle-ground usage of Liquid. The point is that it is much easier and less dangerous to change the blocksize in Liquid than on the main chain.

As I see there are several promising L2 (scaling) solutions being proposed or worked on, and there will be some that disappear, but more than one that will be popular. Lightning may become the universal interface/connection between them.

Social account recovery can work more-or-less reliably, if peers contact the user in some means _other_ than Nostr, to verify that the identity of the user. I think the protocol should enforce this someohow, otherwise the sceme is easy to trick (peers will just press on the green button wanting to help, without real check).
The flow I imagine:
- User realizes that he lost his key, or someone else is posting shit in his name (key compromise), or potential key compromise (not yet misused)
- User initializes Emergency Recovery in a supporting client. A new identity is created.
- User identifies a few trusted nostr user peers who can verify his identity and have other real-life non-nostr means of contacting the user
- Posts a event about the key rotation, with the list of the peers, and a min. threshold.
- Tagged peers should:
- contact the user through some non-nostr means, make sure it is indeed the real person
- generate a unique secret code (details tbd, e.g. by signing the event ID of the rotation event)
- if not in doubt about the user, send the secret code to him through non-nostr channel
- The user, once collecting enough 'ack' codes, posts an event closing the key rotation.
Any client can verify the integrity: that it is posted by the same account, and that each ack indeed comes from the mentioned peer (verify cryptographically), and the number is sufficient.
A malicious attacker can misuse a scheme to steal an account, if he can convience a few users that he is the impersonated user. To alleviate this, the real user can launch a similar counter recovery process, which takes over provided that it is backed by _more_ peers. This way the real user can win as long as more peers attest this.
This scheme is basically what fiatjaf has described in NIP37, with the enhancment to capture the proof that peers have contacted the user. What do you think @npub180c…h6w6 ?

I just have the feeling the pregeneration/msterkey/HD-based schemes will never catch on widely even if implemented.
Though if nsecbunker-style separate key storage catches on (even only for power users), that might be a good start to 'deploy' such schemes.
The social network based scheme is rather interesting, but has other challenges.

IF there is a correlation between liquidity peaks and halvings, the question is whether there could be a causal relationship, and if so, in which direction.
Liquidity affecting halving is not possible, as the halving schedule was effectively set out with the initial bitcoin code (2010).
A causal relationship in the other direction would be surreal and mind-blowing...
The most likely is just coincidence.

I think the details of key relation doesn't really matter, be it HD-derived from a master key, be it derived in a chain from each other, or just a set of predefined keys, they all have in common:
- you have to create some state upfront, with secret and public part
- you have to safeguard the secret part separately from your 'day-to'day' nsec
These two points make pregenerated/HD schemes weaker.

Pregenrated/Masterkey/HD schemes are not good for several reasons:
- Cannot be used for keys already in use
- Can be used for newly created profiles, but only if created with a supporting client
- If two-level key protection is not done by the user/clients (ie. master key is in client), there is a chance for the master key being compromised, for which case the scheme is ineffective
- Basically works only if the user considers the key compromise risk explicitly upfront, which is not the case for most users.
@npub180c…h6w6 's proposed NIP41 scheme is a clever scheme to ease proving the relationship between subsequent keys, but still has the above issues (pr #158, since abandoned).

Some fresh ideas are always welcome for key rotation!
Any scheme has to handle well these cases:
1. A malicious attacker quickly rotating to a new key, which the original victim cannot rotate
2. No key theft occurs, but a user just maliciously rotates away the key of an unrelated, victim user.
For Simple key deletion, 1. is ok as it makes no sense for an attacker to use. To protect against 2., the event has to be signed by the corresponding private key (if this is not enforced, anyone can delete any key; the consequence is that it is not possible to use this in case of lost key).
The Social Key Migration sounds interesting. Though an attacker could be successful in convincing enough contacts to rotate to a new key controlled by them, some contacts would benevolently and unsuspectingly help.
