Nah, nothing do do with the turbines (as seen here this morning), the site is attractive as there’s a substation there so a connection to the grid: they tried for a gas peaking plant on the same site a few years back, and farmers are now looking to cash in on the BESS thing.
Somewhat NIMBY thoughts, but mainly views spoiled and potentially opening the door to further development. Somewhat ironically, the lovely drumlin field it’s part makes it easier to hide such an eyesore.

Closer to home—like ~500m from my LA8 home—there are two planning applications for BESS plants in adjoining fields gone in this week with a third one pending. I have conflicting thoughts.

As an A8 #BikeNite addendum, something that came to mind mid-ride yesterday: it’s still hedge-trimming season here so the roads are littered with sharp twigs and thorns. I watched three thorns going round and round my front wheel at one point, so it’s worth checking your sealant levels and/or that your spare tube is in good nick. Anything to avoid having to stop and fix a bike road/trail side when the weather is grim.

A8 #BikeNite The weather has been so crap this year, that I don’t think I ever even prepped for summer! I perhaps got as far as ‘all weather’ lube, but certainly never dry. And the fenders have been back on for a couple of months already.

The local kids' cycle club, 'Salt Ayre Cog Set' has been robbed:
"There's been a break in and loads of bikes stolen. If you see and 20-26" Isla bikes blue and red hybrid and road bikes please let us know. So far we've found three (or members of the public have). They stolen a bunch of other stuff like the ramps which we've found most of. It's been a bit of a blow but they don't usually sell bikes on local patches so please keep an eye out.’"

Dingle, our previous GSP, was. Luckily he had quite bad aim and would invariably roll next to the rotting fish, crap, dead bird, or whatever odour he was hoping to acquire. Unless of course you had to be somewhere or had folk coming round.

So, and I'm not sure it'll calm your wrath but, in today's small world news: My nephew was off up to Arran to play golf the other week and I mentioned the ferry issues, learned of via your posts. Kirst says she used to be on a running team with someone who worked on the ferry. Your mention today prompted me to do a quick search and who do I find pics of alongside the other Kirst[ie] but your good self!

My mother's a bloody star, losing her marbles for sure, but a star. It was her brother's (my uncle's) funeral yesterday and she was to read a poem. The order of service had the words of the usual 'He is Gone' sentimental nonsense printed, but my mother walks up to the lectern and starts "There once was a man from Nantucket … "
To a few gasps, then laughs, she then paused and got back to the script. I know for sure it's what he would have wanted.
