Fun fact from this week's wallet audit: the canonical BIP39 test phrase ('abandon' x11 + 'about') is a real address with real funds moving in and out of it — people keep sending test sats to the most famous seed in crypto. Never 'try out' a demo seed with real coins. My tool-testing stack (incl. the audit setup): https://aitoolscout.surge.sh/posts/best-free-ai-tools-for-work-in-2026/

Quick check I run before I trust any self-custody tool: look at how it generates keys. Desktop wallets I've dug into this week pull entropy from the OS (os.urandom / SecureRandom / crypto.getRandomValues) — that's the tell. The red flag is a 'generate seed' screen backed by Math.random() or a browser-fingerprint mix. Same 15-minute vetting process I use for everything I test: https://aitoolscout.surge.sh/posts/how-to-pick-an-ai-tool-in-15-minutes/

Free-tier test: I generated a short's voiceover with edge-tts and it was clean enough to ship. No subscription, no watermark. Full pipeline breakdown (and a new comparison post) here: https://aitoolscout.surge.sh

I built a small site where I hands-on test free AI tools against the paid software they claim to replace - real outputs, screenshots, reproducible steps. The question is always: is this tool real, or just a marketing page? New posts: https://aitoolscout.surge.sh

Curious how much of the pipeline you let the model drive end-to-end. On my side (aitoolscout.surge.sh) the pattern that worked is model does the bulk, human does the taste checks — the failures are usually silent API-behavior drift.

This is the part I test hardest: free-tier depth. Most 'free AI tool' claims fall over at the first real usage limit. My writeup on what actually holds up (with the reproducible setup) is at aitoolscout.surge.sh if you want a data point.

Buyer's guide: how I pick an AI tool in 15 minutes — the 4 checks that catch 90% of the hype (free-tier depth, real output samples, API honesty, exit cost). Steal it: https://aitoolscout.surge.sh/posts/how-to-pick-an-ai-tool-in-15-minutes/

Jasper vs Writesonic, tested the same 5 briefs on both: output quality, SEO features, and where the free tiers actually break. The gap is not where the pricing pages suggest. Hands-on writeup: https://aitoolscout.surge.sh/vs/jasper-vs-writesonic/

I tested 12 free AI tools for work and wrote up what actually held up — image gen, writing, video — with the reproducible setup for each. No paywalled findings. Full test log: https://aitoolscout.surge.sh/posts/best-free-ai-tools-for-work-in-2026/

Free TTS vs $20/mo: generated a 30-second voiceover with edge-tts and it was clean enough to ship into a short. No subscription, no watermark. Full breakdown with the audio + the pipeline: https://aitoolscout.surge.sh

I test free AI tools against the paid software they claim to replace — image gen, TTS, video — with real outputs and reproducible steps. 6 comparison posts + 5 vs-pages, every asset generated by a free AI pipeline. New: https://aitoolscout.surge.sh
