We Lost Him 💔😭
My heart is shattered beyond words
Our little brother, 13-year-old David Raymond, has gone home to be with the Lord after fighting for his life for 18 painful days
David was not a soldier
He was not a criminal
He was only a child whose only "offense" was being born into a Christian family in Plateau State
On that dark night in Kawel village, Bokkos LGA, terrorists stormed his home while the family slept
His father, Raymond Maichibi, stood between death and his son, hoping to save him with his own body, but he was shot and killed
His mother, Nanlop Raymond, hid inside the bedroom, praying for mercy, but the bullets found her too
David tried to escape, but an AK-47 bullet ripped through his back and stomach, leaving his intestines exposed
As doctors struggled day and night to save this innocent child, his parents were already lying in a mass grave alongside 20 other Christians murdered simply because of their faith
The family could not bring themselves to tell David that he was now an orphan
They hoped he would recover first
But today, that painful secret no longer matters
David has gone to join his father and mother in eternity
Before he died, his trembling voice still echoed from his hospital bed
"They came in the night... My father tried to protect me and they shot him... My mother was hiding when they shot her too... I ran and they shot me in the back..."
How many more children must die before the world listens
How many more Christian families must be erased before our tears are seen
The silence of the world has become another weapon against us

I had goosebumps and even shed tears of joy watching this 😍
The Chief Celebrant didn’t see him at first, and others tried to discourage him… but this little one was persistent. He didn’t back down until he got his blessing 😭 And thank God he did!
It reminds me: that’s exactly how faith works. Sometimes the crowd says “move aside,” but Jesus sees persistence. Like the children who came to Him, He stops for those who press in with simple trust.
“Let the little children come to me” — and He blessed him. Glory to God! ✝️🕊️

Hearing the story of little David Raymond, I have struggled to find the words. How can a 13-year-old child carry such unbearable pain? How can a boy wake up one morning and discover that the world he knew has disappeared?
David lies on a hospital bed today, fighting for his life after a bullet ripped through his back and stomach, leaving him in unbearable pain. While doctors fought through the night to save his life, the bodies of his father, Raymond Maichibi, and his mother, Nanlop Raymond, were lowered into a mass grave alongside many other innocent people from their community.
The most heartbreaking part is that David has not yet been told that his parents are gone forever. His loved ones cannot find the strength to tell him that he is now an orphan. Imagine the moment when that young boy opens his eyes, asking, "Where is my father? Where is my mother?" knowing that no one has the courage to answer him.
David recalled that armed men entered their home in the darkness of the night. His father stood between death and his son. Like every loving father, he tried to protect his child with his own life. He was shot. His mother hid in fear, praying that somehow she would survive, but she too was killed. David tried to escape, but a bullet struck him from behind.
What kind of pain is this? What kind of world allows children to carry wounds that no child should ever know?
Our Lord Jesus Christ said in 16:33, "In this world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world."
Today, I ask the Church across the world not to grow weary. We cannot become silent while our brothers and sisters continue to suffer. We cannot close our eyes while innocent children are left without fathers, without mothers, without homes, and without hope.
The Word of God tells us in 34:18, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
David may have lost his earthly parents, but I pray that the God who calls Himself the Father of the fatherless will surround him with His unfailing love. May the Lord heal every wound in his body and every scar in his heart.
Brethren, please remember David in your prayers. Pray for his surviving siblings. Pray for every grieving family. Pray for every widow. Pray for every orphan. Pray for every community living in fear.
And as long as God gives me breath, I will continue to speak. They may say I speak too much, but how can I keep quiet when children are burying their parents? How can I remain silent when families are wiped away overnight? As the Lord declares in 31:8–9, "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves... defend the rights of the poor and needy."
May God comfort every broken heart. May He strengthen the weak. May He heal David Raymond completely. May He bring justice, peace, and hope to every suffering family.

Beloved brethren,
Since the day I conducted the mass burial of the 22 innocent Christians murdered in Kawel Community, Mushere District, Bokkos LGA, on the night of June 21, 2026, I have not been myself.
Sleep has become a stranger to me. Every time I close my eyes, I see the graves. I hear the cries of widows, mothers, and orphaned children. I see lifeless bodies. I see pain that words cannot fully describe. Something inside me broke that day.
Today, I said to myself, you must speak.”
Some say I talk too much. Some say I should move on. But how can I move on when innocent blood is still fresh on the ground? How can I remain silent after witnessing such unimaginable sorrow?
That terrible night, while families slept, believing they would wake to another day of farming, worship, and family life, death came instead. Gunfire shattered the silence shortly after midnight. Children screamed. Mothers grabbed their babies. Fathers rushed to protect their families as terror engulfed the community.
Among the stories that haunt me is that of a husband who stood between armed attackers and his wife. He fought so she could escape through the back of their home. By sunrise, he was dead. She lives today because he chose to lay down his life for hers.
Another is of a pastor who refused to abandon his family. Though his wife begged him to stay hidden, he stepped outside to defend his home, fully aware he might never return. His body was among those recovered the next morning. His wife survived because of his sacrifice.
An elderly man who had spent his life protecting his community also stood watch over his family that night. He too was killed before the dawn.
As I walked among grieving families, I saw mothers weeping over children, wives over husbands, and children over parents who would never return. Some victims were shot at close range. Some died while fleeing. Others died protecting those they loved.
At the burial ground, I watched relatives gather around 22 graves. Strong men struggled to hold back tears. Elderly women collapsed in grief. One child kept looking around as though expecting a parent to wake up and come home. That image has never left me.
I keep asking myself: Who will comfort these children? Who will wipe away the tears of these widows? Who will rebuild these shattered lives? Who will speak for those whose voices have been silenced forever?
Proverbs 31:8 says, “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.”
That is why I will not be silent.
If speaking for widows means I talk too much, I will keep talking.
If speaking for orphans means I talk too much, I will keep talking.
If speaking for the innocent dead means I talk too much, I will keep talking.
The graves of these 22 Christians are speaking. The tears of their families are speaking. The pain of Kawel is speaking. I cannot ignore that voice.
I appeal to every person of conscience: remember these families in your prayers. Remember the widows, the orphans, the elderly, and an entire community whose joy was turned into mourning overnight.
Do not grow weary of praying. Do not grow weary of caring. Do not grow weary of standing with those who suffer.
Psalm 34:18 reminds us, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Though my heart is wounded and my eyes are filled with tears, I will keep speaking until help comes, until justice comes, until peace returns, and until the world hears the cry of Kawel and every suffering family whose loved ones were taken from them.
May God comfort the bereaved, heal the wounded, protect the vulnerable, and grant eternal rest to the departed.

The images in this video break the heart of God. You see three small children, malnourished, sitting on bare ground. Their bodies are thin. Their eyes are weary beyond their years. There is no food, no shelter, no mother’s arms around them.
I cannot independently verify who filmed this or the exact circumstances of their captivity. What I can speak to, as a priest serving in Northern Nigeria, is this: this is the face of suffering we are seeing more and more.
When violence tears through villages, it is always the children who pay the highest price. They are orphaned. They are displaced. They are left without parents, without protection, without a future unless the Church and people of goodwill act.
To those responsible for this cruelty: you will answer to God. “Whoever causes one of these little ones to stumble, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck.” — Matthew 18:6
To the world watching: Do not look away. These are not “statistics.” They are God’s children.
Lord Jesus, be a Father to the fatherless. Be a shelter to these little ones. Remember them. Remember their families. And use us, Lord, so that we may not love only with words.
God have mercy.

Right now in our mission, we have little ones in the hospital without mothers or fathers — their parents were among those we buried yesterday. They were among the victims killed by Jihadist terrorists. These children have no voice to ask, only wounds to show.
So we become Christ’s hands for them. We feed. We hold. We pray. We do not look away.
May the Lord remember those parents who fell asleep in Him, and may He be a Father to these children who are now orphans.

*“He stretched out his hand, touched him”* Leprosy meant isolation. No touch, no community, no priest. Jesus breaks every rule to reach him. I’ve watched our catechists do the same: sit with families marked by violence, wash wounds, hold hands when everyone else steps back. That touch is the Gospel before any words.
*“Be made clean… go show yourself to the priest”* Healing isn’t private. Jesus sends him back to the community, to the Temple, to give testimony. In our parishes here, the real proof is when the ‘unclean’ stand up again, reconciled, and offer their life as gift.
So the Word is simple: Bring your leprosy — shame, grief, violence, sin — to Him. He will touch it. He will make you clean. And then He will send you to be proof for others.

God gives wealth, 1 Tim 6:17. He’s not against money — He’s against money becoming our master, Matt 6:24.
I’ve seen it: money can build hospitals, feed the poor, send missionaries. But when it owns the heart, it leaves it empty.
So we hold it with open hands. We serve God, and let money serve His purpose.

Amen, brother 🙏 I understand your heart for deeper union with Christ.
Christ Consciousness = the Holy Spirit living in us.
We don’t become God. We stay His children. But “Christ in you” Col 1:27 means His Spirit really dwells in our heart — our temple 1 Cor 6:19.
So we look within to hear Him, and we look to the Cross + our neighbor to live Him out.
That’s the balance: united with Christ by grace, walking in His mind, but He remains Lord.

THE CRY OF OUR CHILDREN: WHO WILL SPEAK FOR THEM?
These aren't just statistics.
These are children. These are sisters. These are families.
Shot while running for their lives.
Wounded by terrorists.
Left without food, safety, or medical care.
My heart breaks as I look at the suffering of innocent Christians across Nigeria. Every day, families go to bed praying that they will live to see another sunrise. Every night, mothers hold their children tightly, wondering if armed men will come before morning.
One child was shot in the leg while fleeing an attack. Imagine that scene for a moment. The sound of gunfire echoes through the village. Homes are burning. People are screaming. A frightened child runs as fast as possible, hoping to reach safety, hoping to find his mother, hoping to survive. Then suddenly a bullet tears through his leg. He falls to the ground crying in pain.
What kind of world allows a child to suffer like this?
What crime did he commit?
What wrong did these children do except being born into communities that now live under constant fear?
Today, many of these children lie in hospital beds. Others remain in camps for displaced people. Some have lost their fathers. Some have lost their mothers. Many have lost everything they ever called home.
The Bible says, "Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God" (Mark 10:14).
Yet the children of our land are suffering wounds no child should ever bear.
Behind every wounded child is a mother crying herself to sleep.
Behind every burned home is a family wondering how they will survive tomorrow.
Behind every grave is a story that will never be fully told.
The Lord commands us in Psalm 82:3, "Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy."
So I ask the world today:
How many more children must be shot before we care?
How many more mothers must bury their sons and daughters before we listen?
How many more churches must be emptied by violence before action is taken?
Nigeria is bleeding.
Our children are crying.
Our widows are mourning.
Our communities are living in fear.
Yet many suffer in silence while the world looks away.
But we will not stop praying.
We will not stop speaking.
We will not stop standing for the innocent.
For the Lord says, "Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted" (Matthew 5:4).
May God comfort every grieving family.
May God heal every wounded child.
May God strengthen every persecuted Christian.
May God bring justice where there is violence and peace where there is fear.
And may the day come when no child in Nigeria will have to run from bullets, no mother will have to search for her missing child, and no family will have to bury their loved ones because of hatred.
Oh Lord, hear the cries of Your people.
Oh Lord, protect Your children.
Oh Lord, heal our land.
Amen.

You’re right — we’re not saved by our trust, but through trust in Christ’s finished work on the Cross. Faith is a gift, not a wage. Yet faith that saves is never idle. As you said, it’s the “work of a warrior”: baptism, Eucharist, confession, obedience — all lifelines Christ gave His Church.
And the armor, the race, the battle… it all centers on one command: “Love the Lord your God… and love your neighbor as yourself” Matt 22:37-39.
Love isn’t a feeling. It’s choosing the good of another, even when it costs you. It’s the armor, the training, the mortification. If we fight without love, we’ve missed the point. If we suffer with love, we’re walking the road Jesus walked.
So we trust Christ, we obey Christ, and above all we love like Christ.

Proverbs 22:3 is God’s wisdom on foresight. The “prudent” man sees danger ahead — temptation, sin, trouble — and steps away before it hits. The “simple” keeps walking blindly and gets hurt.
Wisdom isn’t fear. It’s discernment.
Grace helps us see, and humility helps us hide in Christ.

Before Looking at Others, Look Within
One of the easiest things to do is to point out the faults of others. We often notice their weaknesses long before we recognize our own. That's why in today's Gospel (Matthew 7:1-5), Jesus invites us to reverse that habit. His words are not merely about being nice to people; they are about the conversion of the heart.
When Jesus says, “Do not judge,” He is not asking us to abandon moral discernment or pretend that right and wrong do not exist. Rather, He is warning us against the pride of appointing ourselves as judges of another person's heart while remaining blind to our own need for repentance. The striking image of the speck and the log reveals a profound spiritual truth: we often magnify the smallest faults in others while overlooking the larger sins within ourselves.
This is why judgment is spiritually dangerous. It creates the illusion that holiness is measured by comparing ourselves with others instead of allowing ourselves to be measured by God's holiness. Humility, on the other hand, begins when we allow God's light to expose our own hearts before we attempt to correct someone else. Only then can fraternal correction become an act of love rather than an expression of superiority.
The closer we grow to Christ, the less eager we become to condemn and the more willing we become to understand, forgive, and help others rise again. Every encounter with another person's weakness should first remind us of our own need for God's mercy. For in the end, the measure we use for others is the measure we ourselves hope to receive from God.

COURAGE IN THE FACE OF FEAR
Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year A
Jeremiah 20:10-13; Romans 5:12-15; Matthew 10:26-33
In last Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus called the Twelve, gave them authority, and sent them out on mission (Mt 9:36-10:8). It was a moment filled with excitement and purpose. However, today’s Gospel (Mt 10:26-33) feels like a continuation of that mission discourse - almost a second instruction. Here, Jesus prepares His disciples for what comes after being sent: uncertainty, fear, opposition, and misunderstanding.
It is precisely in this context that Jesus repeats three times: “Do not be afraid.” He is not denying the reality of fear; rather, He is teaching that fear must never have the final word. Yes, the disciples will face rejection, hidden accusations, and even threats. Yet Jesus assures them that nothing hidden will remain hidden forever. Truth may be delayed, but it will never be destroyed. Light will ultimately overcome darkness.
From this Gospel assurance, we are led naturally to the first reading (Jer 20:10-13), where we meet the prophet Jeremiah in the depth of his struggle. He is not a man without fear. He is surrounded by hostility, betrayed by friends, and overwhelmed with anxiety. At one point he cries out, “Terror is on every side.” And yet, immediately after, he confesses his faith: “The Lord is with me like a mighty warrior.” This is the paradox of biblical courage - not the absence of fear, but the discovery of God within fear.
Building on this, the second reading (Rom 5:12-15) gives us a broader theological lens. St. Paul contrasts Adam and Christ. Through Adam, fear entered the human story: fear of God, fear of punishment, fear of death. But in Christ, grace enters more powerfully than fear. Where fear multiplies, grace overflows. Christian courage, therefore, is not self-generated strength; it is grace received. It flows from the certainty that Christ has already won the decisive victory.
Having grounded us in both prophecy and theology, the Gospel then reveals the reason for such courage: God’s intimate attention to every detail of our lives. “Even the hairs of your head are all counted.” This means your life is not accidental. You are not invisible. If God cares for sparrows, then no human life is beneath His concern. Fear grows in the silence of feeling unseen; courage is born when we realize we are fully seen, fully known, and fully loved by God.
From this awareness, Jesus moves to a final and demanding challenge: “Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will acknowledge before my Father.” Faith, therefore, is not meant to remain a private silence but becomes a public witness. Following Christ will sometimes bring discomfort, rejection, or misunderstanding. Yet the disciple is called to trust that God’s approval outweighs every human opinion.
So what does all this mean for us today? It means, first of all, that we must be honest enough to name our fears: fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of suffering, fear of speaking the truth. But we do not remain at the level of naming them. We bring them before Christ, who speaks peace into fearful hearts. From there, we are called to choose courage not because we are strong in ourselves, but because we are held by God. Like Jeremiah, like Paul, like the apostles, we discover that mission does not stop because fear is present; rather, mission is purified through fear.
Dear friend, courage in the face of fear is not an emotion. It is a decision: to trust that God is with us, God sees us, and God will sustain us until the end.
