The doctor says I should exercise, go to the gym, or take up a sport. I agree with her in theory, but not in practice. My wallet doesn’t agree either, the same frail one that protests the growing pile of books around the studio. So today I went to sort out my library card at the local library, which I can walk to. It will never be like swimming, but at least my mind doesn’t drown while I’m doing it.

I’ve already reached a conclusion about which email provider to use to replace Gmail, but I’m still far from reaching the same decision when it comes to cloud storage. What would be the @npub1tk7…0m5c equivalent for cloud storage — a non-evil, non-US alternative?

Something’s seriously wrong with my Macintosh Quadra 700 and my heart is pounding. 💔 It suddenly refuses to recognize any startup disk. The one that used to boot now throws errors 000000F 0000003 and 000000F 000000A on other Macs. Did my beloved Quadra 700 just die on me? 😢

US tariffs knocked every non-US Etsy shop to the ground — and now Etsy’s own algorithm will deliver the final blow. Now is the time for an alternative platform to rise and take what Etsy will no longer be able to profit from.

The genius behind MacPaint, HyperCard, and so many other groundbreaking creations has left us. I like to think that Bill Atkinson is now in a better place—one where HyperCard was never discontinued, and its legacy lives on, evolving as it always should have.

Just submitted two pieces to a biennial art exhibition — fingers crossed! ✨
Not my first time, but it's always exciting (and a little nerve-wracking) to put my work out there on a bigger stage. Let’s see where this goes!

🔥 Monitor upgrade time! 🔥
This screen is an absolute embarrassment sitting next to the mighty Quadra 700. I need to replace it with something that at least doesn’t make me cringe every time I look at it.
The catch? It must be an LCD—I just don’t have the space (or back strength) for a proper CRT. Any suggestions from the display connoisseurs out there?

I thought I couldn't be happier with my Toyota Yaris, but today I realized that its trunk is the exact size of four G3 or G4 Power Macs side by side. It's as if it was made to transport all four Power Macs: G3 Blue and White, G3 Graphite, G4 Quicksilver, G4 Mirrored Drive Doors. In this age of brittle plastic, it would make excellent advertising, reminiscent of the Citroen 2CV transporting eggs in rural areas.

Brittled plastic is a nightmare for anyone passionate about retro computing, but I hate it as much as I love my Quadra 840AV (the fastest 68k Mac). How sacrilegious would it be to transfer the components of a Quadra 840AV into an empty aluminum Power Mac G5 case? I know the supports are different, but I’m prepared to work around that—and I don’t need any of the drives (CD and floppy). #retrocomputing #retrogaming #retro #vintagemac #macintosh #apple #MARCHintosh

I’m interested in retro Macintosh computers and am building a vintage creative workstation. I already have a Quadra, an AppleWriter II, and a QuickTake camera. I’m searching eBay for a OneScanner and an Apple Studio Display. What other peripherals should I add?

I enjoy how these things turn out. I was never a prosumer with my Macs—in fact, I always loved the all-in-one form factor. But now, in the retro world, I’m all about the towers. No heavy, bulky CRT, no obstacles to repair, and easy to connect to a modern screen. But here's the new problem: I only need one, and I already have three Mac towers. 😅

A PC that does exactly what it needs to do, without all the extra frills, will be the most valuable thing in a few years. A machine where I don’t have to battle to switch off AI assistants or unplug the internet. My classic macintosh collection is growing, but perhaps I should add a couple of 486 machines, no?

I guess kbin wasn't meant to be. There's this #fediverse thing that leaves me wanting more, of which kbin was a good example: some platforms are copies (or very similar) of those that seek to be an alternative.

I wonder if, when the same amount of time has passed, we will feel as nostalgic about the era of Intel processors as we do today about the Motorola 68k and IBM PowerPC processors on the Apple platform. Or perhaps, any other technology that is becoming obsolete as we speak.
