#Codeberg has practically banned projects that are (mostly) vibe-coded.
The rationale is that heavily #LLM-driven projects tend to drain resources to create projects that practically nobody cares about (as opposed to established human-driven community projects), so it would be a waste on Codeberg’s resources as well.
Good argument.

Summary of new features for #QuikBild (the word-guessing minigame) I worked on in the past days:
* New word list format, words now know context and synonyms
* Revised default word list (WIP)
* Quality-of-life: Better messages, more readable text, HUD stuff, sound effects, …
* More game settings to customize the game on servers
* Bugfixes! Bugfixes! Bugfixes!
Note: These features are NOT LIVE yet on the A.E.S. server for #Luanti.

@nprofile…ny8g This is ridiculous. The main #AfD party is celebrating a "win" because they are "only" allowed to be classified as a *suspicion* of being rightwing extremist group … for now. The legal process is NOT over yet.
This news is being abused for propaganda to make it look like the AfD has been "vindicated" which is NOT the case.
5 of the 16 Landesverbände are still classified as rightwing extremist: Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Brandenburg, Thuringia, Lower Saxony (NEW!).

@nprofile…7gam As far I understand it, the plan is simple: Any future certified versions of Android will refuse to install apps that don’t have the Google stamp of approval. Basically they want to dictate to the users what they are allowed to install.
I guess that leaves users with strategies like jail-breaking, installing unofficial Android versions, or just switching the OS entirely (Replicant, etc.).
I don’t know the legal implications (IANAL).

@nprofile…dfsx Such a disappointing blogpost. Not a single word of criticism towards Google? Google basically threatened to make all apps *non-installable* for the crime of disobedience and this was all they had to say? Embarrassing.
The contrast to F-Droid's reaction <https://f-droid.org/de/2026/02/20/twif.html> could not be larger.
Also, Google's vague promise to keep a "flow" open for experienced users is just that: a vague promise. F-Droid does not trust it, and neither do I.

I urge all developers of #Android apps to NOT pre-emptively obey the new terms of #Google requiring you to sign up for the Android Developer Console.
It looks like Google is attempting a power grab and wants to prevent ALL installations of Android apps without official Google approval; even those installed outside Google Play.

Experimental feature in #Lazarr!
These things are called "dichroic" mirrors and act like a combination of beam splitter and filter glass.
They come in 6 colors (not rendered yet). If a laser goes in, some color components may pass, while the other color components are deflected.
So a white laser hitting a red dichroic mirror gets split into red and cyan.
I am still working out the details, so things may still change.

I knew #SuperTux for a long time. Recently, the beta version 0.7.0-beta.1 came out and I’m impressed by the amount of work put into this version. 👍
This is basically a near-full #remake of the entire game: Remade all official levels, even Bonus Island 1, remade graphics, remade music, remade enemies, remade power-ups.
It’s like you’re playing a new game.
This version still has rough edges and bugs (obviously), but the game is going the right direction.

Day 3 in #39C3 and so far I can recommend two talks (to be found on media.ccc.de later):
1) AI Agent, AI Spy (about the risks of using agentive AI)
2) Blackbox Palantir (the political debate/implications of using #Palantir in #Germany)

#39C3: Just watched "CSS Clicker Training", a talk by @nprofile…nxe0 about how to ABUSE poor innocent #CSS in order to make interactive web games with only CSS+HTML, no JavaScript.
The tricks being shown are ABSURD but really cool and mindblowing. 🤯
I think this will not be huge news to true #CSS wizards but it's still cool.
Thanks for this amazing talk! 👍

The upcoming talk "Variable Fonts" at #39C3 sounds interesting. My knowledge about fonts is very limited, but I remember you can do some whacky stuff with them.

The #39C3 talk "Agentic ProbLLMs" was great and disturbing. I strongly recommend it to watch it later on media.ccc.de.
Several exploits using agentic AIs (e.g. #Copilot, #Claude Code, #Jules, #Devin, …) were demonstrated, allowing to pwn your computer. In some cases without user interaction.
The highlight was a proof-of-concept virus that attacks git that replicates whenever a developer uses "analyze code with #AI". 🤡

Btw, can we all just appreciate how AWESOME it is that #39C3 recordings (and of many previous conferences, too) are hosted on independent infrastructure (media.ccc.de) instead of just lazily uploading everything to #YouTube and pray you never get banned?
It IS possible to cut off the corporate middle-men, people just have to WANT it and stop making excuses.

Just finished watching the talk "And so it begins" at #39C3 by an activitst group helping people suffering under #Taliban rule flee from #Afghanistan to #Germany and all the legal and political challenges on the way. Good but disturbing talk.
Afghanistan is a theocratic #dictatorship, especially for women. IMO anyone who justifies deporting people to Afghanistan for ANY reason is a MONSTER.
(The talk can later be re-watched on media.ccc.de. English translation available.)

Due to confusions, I think I need to clarify my involvement status regarding #Luanti:
1) My main current involvement in Luanti is the development of #games and mods *for* Luanti. My latest finished games are C.O.W. and #Lazarr! Other games include #Repixture and #HadesRevisited
2) I am NOT officially a Luanti core dev. I made a couple of contributions to the C++ code tho
3) I make sure the #German #translation stays up-to-date
4) In the past I wrote a LOT for the wikis

Looking forward to see the talk "Pwn2Roll" at #39C3 at 17:15 UTC+1 today.
It will be about how a wheelchair user reverse engineered their own wheelchair to defeat #bullshit digital restrictions. Sounds interesting.

@nprofile…ddzz Remember that while we do have many Minecraft-like games, some games a
different enough in their mechanics that they would need their own mo
ds. For example, my game Repixture is technically significantly differ
ent from Minetest Game and was coded from the ground up, thus the API
is completely different.
The solution for mods is that they must specify which game or games th
ey target.

2025-12-27 01:12:31 GMT

- reply

@nprofile…ddzz The short answer is: It depends.
A large number was made for "Minetest Game" for historical reasons. Many mods are made for other Luanti games, and some mods are completely game-agnostic (usually for simple helper/utility mods).
For mods that add gameplay content, they usually depend on a specific game. A few mods aim compatibility with multiple games (if similar enough).
Mods don't usually re-invent game basics like crafting or smelting if the game they target already has it.

In case you want to give a present to someone in #Luanti, there is this "Giftbox2" mod. 😉

@nprofile…wry8 @nprofile…ddzz Slightly off-topic: I REALLY don't think Luanti should be compared to the proprietary child exploitation hellscape known as "Roblox". We don't want our community be associated with it AT ALL. We have STANDARDS. 😅

@nprofile…ddzz First (and no longer active) MineClone 2 (MCL2) dev here.
1) MCL2 is now called VoxeLibre (VL)
2) This game was always meant to be fully self-contained and playable without mods
3) Optional Mods for VL exist, and they usually will say if they were made for VL. If not: check mod dependencies. Mods that start with "mcl_" are from MCL2/VL.
4) The mod dependencies are listed on the right side in the ContentDB side. Imporant: These are the technical mod names
I hope this helps for now.

@nprofile…ddzz Yeah you got many things wrong; also Luanti has changed in the last years a lot. Here are some key things:
1) The correct name is now "Luanti"
2) Luanti is a game engine and game platform for voxel games.
3) Players can install+play games in Luanti, and then they can install mods on top
4) Players can join servers no matter which games+mods they use and it will just work. 100% auto-download
5) Luanti no longer has a "base game" by default

2025-12-21 01:03:56 GMT

#Luanti update: the "reason" table for set_hp and get_hp now also supports the /kill command and eating. There is also now an official method to introduce custom set_hp reasons.
This should simplify mods like death message mods a little.

In the last few days, I was busy working on the #Luanti documentation (function data types, esp. integers), but also on a feature started by community member jp/kilbith: Hypertext tooltips.
Hypertext tooltips will introduce text formatting and images to the tooltips. Thanks to jp/kilbith, who did the bulk of the work.

@nprofile…cmtc Especially the #AgeVerification crap is concerning. Many ways to "verify age" endanger your privacy; some methods are about uploading photos of yourself. Yeah, right, let's ask children to upload photos of, that's TOTALLY making the Internet safe!11!1!
And once such infrastructure is installed and widespread, it's easy to extend it by forcing platforms to ban adults the state doesn't like as well.
This is all very #sus and will make the Internet LESS safe.

This is absolutely vile and disgusting. This is a blatant attack on #freedom. Humans are #social animals, thus banning youth from social media is like banning them from social life.
Greta Thunberg was 15 when she started the school strike for climate, so she would have been hit by the law.
Social media bans for youth are not about protecting youth, they're about protecting the state FROM the youth.
Also, #AgeVerification is an attack on #privacy.

I was bored so I made a pointless new mini website called "Falsche Fehler". It's all in German and means "Errornous Errors". It's full of weird, funny, pointless, absurd fake error messages I thought of over the years, now they're all on a retro-style mini website.

⚠️ Falsche Fehler ⚠️

C.O.W. version 1.1.0 released. This is the first release after the (victorious! 🎉) #GameJam.
Houses now have interior design, blocks are no longer bouncy on the bottom side, the HUD and main menu got an overhaul and a full German translation was added. There are many smaller changes and bugfixes.
Enjoy!

@nprofile…h3ed @nprofile…z6ju Ahhh, so you mean YouTubers should just upload the video from their computer directly. Yeah, makes sense, there is a risk the YouTube video might have *already* been defaced before you click the Import button. 🙁
I really hope more YouTubers WAKE UP to this nightmare and leave this shitshow of a website for good.

2025-12-05 20:00:39 GMT

- reply

@nprofile…z6ju @nprofile…h3ed Wait. I don't think I understand your post. When you import a video from YouTube in PeerTube, that's NOT a full copy but basically just a mirror? Meaning that changes to the video will change the video in PeerTube?
If so, that should be made SUPER clear in the UI because that sounds like a trap. It should be clearly visible to the creator when a video was added not as a full independent copy but is pulled from another site. This distinction is important IMO.

2025-12-05 19:51:42 GMT

- reply

@nprofile…h3ed Oh wait, you meant to tell YouTubers they should post on PeerTube as a means of collecting EVIDENCE for when YouTube has defaced your work? Interesting.
IMHO YouTube just needs to DIE. A platform that so blatantly HATES the own creators does not deserve anyone's time. PeerTube FTW!
(I'm not a YouTuber btw, the few videos I did post are all on a PeerTube instance anyway lol.)

2025-12-05 19:28:58 GMT

@nprofile…h3ed HOLY SHIT this is a new low even for YouTube. If YouTube just randomly alters content, there is ZERO reason for ANY creator to stay. Because who guarantees that YouTube will stop there? They could alter content so aggressively that it completely twists what you stand for, and DEFACING your hard work. YouTube could stab you in the back at any time by essentially posting FAKE content under your name.
Creators need to make a very LOUD STINK about this. Oh, and leave. This is BAD.

@nprofile…yhtu No, not every nation is the same, obviously. Some nations are MUCH worse than others, but I don't think there is a single good nation in the world. There has been so much fuckery in history that I distrust them all.
If we take the "we must ban nations for crimes against humanity" argument to its logical conclusion, Eurovision would have to ban them all. And that would be BASED.
Just like it was BASED when Nemo (in 2024) "smuggled" the enby flag into the show.
