Casually collected Life lessons - Part 1
I’ve been meaning to write something from a long time. Life has been dramatic and I haven’t shared much with people, for I believe, growth happens in the silence. The silent pains at first hurt a lot but eventually push you to a threshold where you can no longer be passive, but are pushed to a level of dynamism. The growth occurs but, naturally.
This is what occurred with me. I had to put things(and people) aside, those especially which didn’t serve me well on the journey ahead. On my way, I collected many lessons though, through texts, scriptures and tweets. It’s surprising to me, how once I used to be a visual learner but words appeal much to me now, especially while I’m learning.
And with this blog or article or piece of text I intend to present all of you with some beautiful things I’ve read and interpreted with my life’s context. Though as I go ahead, I’ll try and put my perspective in impersonal sense, as in, I wouldn’t put in any personal anecdotes or stories (as the word impersonal would infer), but something all of us maybe feeling at large scale.
So to start things, I’ve went back to one of the oldest religions, Judaism. The Jewish people have had long history of suffering and displacement from their native geographical territories. Though, this allows them to provide themselves and rest of the world with wisdom which can aid us in times of mundane existence as well turmoil or rapid progress.
As we go through life, many of us go through cycles where we want to help improve the world and then we get, what we call in modern terms, blackpilled, meaning pessimistic about the world at large. This forces us to shrink our worlds to mere ourselves or at maximum, our families. Especially in a war torn world it seems people shrink rapidly to a very inflated yet personal ego, much kafkaesque. And this is what is happening in the world right now.
To help us with this, there’s a Hebrew saying which i came across, which could help us to stick to the grandiose dream of improving the world yet not get, well, blackpilled!
It goes something like:
Lo alecha ha’melacha ligmor, ve’lo atah ben chorin le’hibatel mimena
Meaning: It is not your responsibility to finish the work of perfecting the world, but you are not free to desist from it either.
This seems like a very ideal or religious saying, for it may be for an inflated yet personal ego. It’s natural for we are animals, thinking first and foremost of ourselves in times of turmoil. Which again makes its obvious for us to not indulge ourselves in what’s largely called ideal. Like the ideal love, and how people hide behind structured relationships as long as they can avoid ego shattering love, for they’ve seen so in movies but not in real life. Real *mundane* life presents them with challenges and they’ve no way out but to hide behind veils of practicality, which provide them with comfort and support.
This brings us back to the lesson, how it teaches us that each individual has to work towards improving the world. Though rationally, we can expect to perfect it, and despite that without being disappointed we should not run away from the responsibility.
This somehow resonates with what I understand to be the central idea around karma yoga in the Bhagavad Gita. Krishna tells Arjuna to emphasise on his actions giving up fruits, which implies to me is what the Hebrew wisdom tries to explain us.
In a world so fragile, so volatile, it’s easy that we become greedy for its natural so. The gene is selfish, as the Dawkins’ book suggest. What the gene and eventually an unaware organism would want is to save itself at any cost. This is where the human wisdom interferes, allows us to break the autopilot mode of selfishness and move towards selflessness, in the sense that we work towards improvement of the world without any expectations of its perfection. For such wish is not only idiotic but also rationally impossible.
This is one of the lessons that I’ve come across and is something we could use in times that we live in. With AI taking the centre stage and wars becoming a daily occurrence, an ideology like above, the mindset of active engagement is what allows us to keeps our spirits up.
There is more which I intend to share, but a Hebrew wisdom is a good start. I hope I was able to convey the lesson as I’ve authentically interpreted and that it helps you, even if, little.
Love
Pratyaksh

the difficult part of onboarding people on chain or on nostr or on bitcoin is to convince them of its safety.
no one wants to loose money but everyone has heard of crypto scams. unfortunately they ignore the Fiat scams which are so common, but banks and governments have made them blind to this very fact.
it’s worth digging in deeper about bitcoin and blockchain while starting out to convince yourself and others.

We are in an era of exponential exchange of both rational and irrational memes. The trajectory selection occurs based on what benefits mankind the most. This will, more certain than not, occur in cycles. Irrational memes unite people by utilizing a base feeling, mostly humor. These very united people will come together to expand the space for the share of rational memes, which lead to the development of technology, morality, etc.
The cyclic nature is necessary to unite fragmented parts when individuals ward off in the directions they mostly align with. This cyclicity of memetic exchange unites and fragments as necessary. It is analogous to time periods where generalists and specialists keep exchanging pedestals. To see through this, we have many analogous cycles that maximize growth, e.g., centralization and decentralization using the technologies of the time. This allows us to view these as mere tools rather than rigid ideologies or frameworks.
The study, analysis, and execution of all of these rely heavily on how we humans carry this forward. The future is highly uncertain, and the uncertainty (of our prediction!) grows as we expand the tech space/knowledge space. Therefore, the responsibility of humans to keep their civilization alive grows heavier. This tells us one thing—and so does a little common sense—that thought → speech → action. It is also easy to understand that the speech of a singular node can affect the thought of other nodes, leading to the influence of actions of multiple nodes.
This allows us to understand that to bring about positive transformation, it is necessary to control the generation and transfer of memetic material, which eventually affects the entire thought-to-action line, converting it into a self-completing feedback-like cycle.
