"Don’t haggle and nag them; you were so recently of them yourself. They are so confident that they will run on forever. But they won’t run on. They don’t know that this is all one hug big blazing meteor that makes a pretty fire in space, but that some day it’ll have to hit. They see only the blaze, the pretty fire, as you saw it."
Fahrenheit 451 - Ray Bradbury, 1953

"Das Gold verwandelt eure Seele, das Gold ist euer Gott, euer Erlöser wie ihr es nennt, und wer ein Stück davon besitzt, der ist gefeit, der meint die Sonne zu besitzen, weil er eine andere Sonne nicht kennt. Ich verstehe es nun genau, und ihr dauert mich, ihr Sonnenlosen."

"The general struggle for existence of animal beings is therefore not a struggle for raw materials - these, for organisms, are air, water and soil, all abundantly available - nor for energy, which exists in plenty in any body in the form of heat, but a struggle for entropy."
Boltzmann, 1905

“But if there was hope, it lay in the plebs. You had to cling on to that. When you put it in words it sounded reasonable: it was when you looked at the human beings on nostr that it became an act of faith.”

What happens to the housing market when bitcoin sucks out all that premium stored value? More affordable housing because vacant speculation objects become available? Or less available housing because of fewer investments in new buildings because of dropping prices?
