A few weeks ago, the world crossed a major solar milestone: 3 terawatt installed. Why did no one notice?
0.1 TW to 1 TW: 120 months
1 TW to 2 TW: 29 months

Reform UK won the most seats in May local elections and is polling at the top across the UK. If it gets into government, it will upend decades of climate and energy policy.
On Zero, I asked deputy leader Richard Tice what evidence shapes those stances. If the world commits to net zero now, it can shave off 0.9C of warming but not economic growth.
ETS has 25 billion tons of emissions in 2050 and sees global temperatures above 2.6C of pre-industrial period. Where as NZS sees 1.75C of warming. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-05-21/key-takeaways-from-bloombergnef-s-new-energy-outlook?srnd=undefined&sref=jjXJRDFv

While the sums spent on NZS ($215 trillion) isn't a miles away from that spent on ETS ($181 trillion), the money does end up going in very different places.
Net zero means the fossil-fuel industry suffers a great deal. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-05-21/key-takeaways-from-bloombergnef-s-new-energy-outlook?srnd=undefined&sref=jjXJRDFv

Predictably the path to net zero is getting harder, but it's still possible and the cost will be only 19% more than what BNEF expects the world spending on the transition anyway. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-05-21/key-takeaways-from-bloombergnef-s-new-energy-outlook?srnd=undefined&sref=jjXJRDFv
