My brother said my old school bus driver sent him a message the other day asking about me. The message was, "Are you related to Paul Chambers who lived on [redacted] road?"
She's got to be in her 80s now, or pushing it.
The last time she drove the bus, before retiring, was in 1987 just before Halloween. She had a medical issue, did a low speed crash, and I did CPR. I was the second to the last person on the bus. The other person ran for help. We were "rewarded" with season passes to Kings Island Amusement Park because of it.
She gave him her number and wants me to call her. I will.

Alright, twitching and double clicking faster than I know what I am doing. Damn temp changes, my muscles and my PD+.
Mastodon usually is ok for me because it gives me a prompt am I sure but today, I am faster than the prompt and I don't want to take meds early to turn those twitches off or else I'll be twitching like a fish out of water out of bed. lol.
Related topic, I really wished websites didn't lose focus if you move your mouse out of a certain area and close what your are doing. At least give us an opportunity to turn that off. It's been a hell of an afternoon on some websites today.

#sissyCat was a shelter rescue and we have had her a couple years now. It makes me so happy to see her sleep in a safe pose and fur pattern not camouflaging her. I'm not sure if you can tell that she's got all her white markings exposed, esp around her ears. When she is hunting or alarmed she changes her fur pattern. God help us. Are they sharing our email addresses with the alt-right White House press corp? Got an unsolicited, not opted-in for, out-of-the-blue introductory newsletter from The Epoch Times that went to a dedicated, unpublished email account I use ONLY to conduct personal government business, like SSA, IRS, login.gov, etc.
The email said when I click an article link I will be consenting and an account would be created based on my email.

My local TV news station, and no, not Sinclair, had a news piece where mainly the Turning Point USA guy was the one talking about what the problem was... It literally had no opposing views.
Apparently, a college student didn't follow the directions for writing an essay and instead went on a "Bible" as interpreted by her tangent against trans folks. I read the assignment and the essay, and it appears the professors and teachers that graded her were correct.
But no, the news didn't cover much about the actual assignment. Barely a blurb.

Roof, part one, is complete. They are coming back Monday to start #PaulsRoof part two.
Since we saved money with the Amish crew in labor, we will have enough to rip the 50 year old tin metal roofing off that is worn to the core, sheath it and shingle and still not go over what our original budget for the flat roof was before we found the Amish crew. Then, 100% of our roof will be new, right down to the sheathing.
We had the great room roof done a couple years ago due to the raccoon damage, the flat roof now and then the old tin.
Next, we will start saving for seamless gutters, etc.
I'll post pics of the flat roof remake tomorrow.

I wonder if you email someone who uses Gmail, and they have it turned on, if your messages, images, documents, etc that you send or share, are being used without the senders consent. Sometimes you don't know because they used GMAIL with a domain name.
If you use Google Chat, they will harvest your private chat messages unless you open Chat separately and opt-out through WorkSpaces.

TL;DR: Lightning exit wound predicted snow a couple weeks ago for around this time, which is now in the forecast.
For about two weeks, I've been telling people, even posted about it here, that my lightning strike exit wound predicts snow and we were going to be getting snow around the first week of November, which is unusual.
The weather folks are now predicting snow.
Ever since I was struck by lightning, when it snows or gets ready to, the exit wound starts getting sore and opens up and bleeds. Not sure why.
Every day it's been getting worse.

It took an hour to clear up, except preview cards and other jobs are working. At least ingress is live now.

2/ I can't stress enough how concerned I am now that Liberty Vote, owned by a right wing GOP former official who investigated 2020 election fraud, owns and is in full control of Dominion voting systems, systems used in the US and Canada by a large portion of the voting population. They now control the largest election poll books in the US, also.

Rant: I'm very disappointed. I can't find anyone to hire or bid even on doing some work around the house that I need done. The locals ones make appointments to come out and then this or than comes up and they never make it. It's not price dickering. They aren't even showing up to make an estimate. So far, everything we have had done has been around market rates.
We're 60 miles or so east of #Cincinnati #Ohio, 25 miles from far out burbs.
I checked out job boards, too, looked for minority, lavender, and LGBTQ businesses that do home repair, building, handy person work, etc and there are no listings near me.
I've contacted Craigslist posters, everything.
People keep saying, "Oh, you have to go on Facebook and post something..." UGH.
I want to get some of this done before tariffs makes the price even more expensive, damnit.
I'm to the point now where, if you have framing skills, some electrical, plumbing and roofing, etc skills and want to make some real money over a couple week period, bring your travel trailer and get to work.
Everything we need done can be wrapped up in two weeks if a person worked 6 or so hours every worked day. Not too labor intensive, either.
Just a few of the jobs off the top of my head:
*25 electrical receptacles replaced. (Wire is good, it's the crappy recalled 1990s outlets)
*Replace metal waterline that is exposed in the basement, so not hard to do, with copper or PVC (around 35 feet)
*Add a couple outdoor water spigots
*Build deck with 8x10 shingled overhang
*replace and frame old "Florida" style windows for traditional windows
*install basement interior door
*take small 14x18 flat roof and frame and shingle it pitched.
*remove non-load bearing closet

My village only posts important information on Facebook. I don't have a Facebook account.
Many US government offices and departments, esp on the local level, only post official messages on proprietary social media platforms like Twitter X and esp, Facebook. That is the only place they post, not even on their websites.
In times of emergencies or critical events, this means people not on those platforms miss out.
We need a strong law in the US that says if a gov office, federal, state or local, posts info to the public primarily online, they must do so in an open fashion. Alternatives could be adding RSS, cross-posting to their website, etc.
Locking citizens out because they choose not to use a platform is bad.

Section 126.70 in the proposed Fiscal Year 2026-27 budget states, “If the federal medical assistance percentage for medical assistance provided to members of the expansion eligibility group is set below ninety per cent, the [Ohio] department of medicaid shall … immediately discontinue all medical assistance for members of the group.”

We have a natural desire, I think, to know where we come from. But, should we?
I'm in my 50s now, and I don't know any of my cousins, including 1st cousins, on my mothers side.
I often wonder about my mother's side of the family. She left when I was almost six and then we only reacquainted 4 or 5 years before she died in 2014. After we reacquainted, we talked every night, and I went to her home once and she came to my home once.
I met one of her sister's in the late 2000s. She died also. I remember a little about her brother, but not much.
I know I have two aunts within 30 minutes drive of me, one uncle somewhere in prison, and another uncle who spent most of his life in a nursing facility, and I don't even know his name.
I did track down her mother when doing my family tree. She is dead, now, also. I remember her. She played 'this little piggy' with my fingers when I was about 5 and ended up deliberately breaking my middle finger when it went "WEE WEE WEE" all the way to the market. She was drunk. I curse that woman every time I went bowling. After a couple games, the arthritis in the 48-year old break makes it hurt.
It's probably best left alone. We have a natural desire, I think, to know where we come from.

Anyone notice how new articles are padding the content and not getting to specifics. For example say the story is, "Famous chicken restaurant files bankruptcy." When you open the article, you to have to read 5 or 6 paragraphs about the chicken restaurant business and industry before you ever get to the chicken restaurant that is filing bankruptcy. Then, there is only à small snippet about the actual business and 5 or 6 more paragraphs about other chicken restaurants.

@nprofile…afth Awe. Your Mamaw. I think my mamaw had that same dress. lol. Was that your Mamaw's "corner" at the kitchen table? My Mamaw had her corner with her little side table with all her Bible notes, etc. The kitchen table was the "living room" for her and papaw. When my brother inherited the home and redid the kitchen completely, it felt like a crime against Mamaw and Papaw.
Papaw and I at a different angle. I can remember being small enough to get my bath in that green sink. One of my first memories.

I think I am going to write a good ole country music song about having two remote Linux terminal windows open, from two different servers and the tragedy that can ensue if you accidentally confuse the terminals and do Server A tasks in Server B's terminal.
The only problem is, I'm not sure how I am going to get the midnight train, the dog or mother a mention in the song. Those are required, I think, to be authentic country music. I can, of course, blame it on working with a broken heart while drinking beer but the train, dog and momma has me stuck.

@nprofile…g007 Be careful, though, linking the Fediverse with a domain name through WordPress AP plugin, esp if you might want to reuse it in the future because Wordpress ActivityPub doesn't have a clean exit mechanism from ActivityPub yet.
