Bonus question: some pieces of fiction assert museums are the best places for artifacts, while others talk about how they steal from marginalized countries. What is your stance?

2026-05-18 23:40:01 GMT

4 . If you could design a museum exhibit with objects not from this world or reality, what would you choose? #Writephant

2026-05-18 23:30:04 GMT

3 . Do any of your characters like museums? If so, what is their favorite one?

2026-05-18 23:20:01 GMT

2 . Books like From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler and The Da Vinci Code feature large museums prominently; so do film franchises like Indiana Jones and National Treasure. What's your favorite piece of fiction with a museum?

2026-05-18 23:10:01 GMT

1 . Have you ever been to a museum? Can you recall the first time you visited one? #Writephant

2026-05-18 23:00:08 GMT

A great evening to everyone! It is time for another #Writephant! I am Priya Sridhar, your host, and our theme is International Museum Day!
Who is ready to dive into ancient exhibits, art, and history? #Writephant

Bonus question: a lot of interesting animal videos and anecdotes come out year-round. For example, coyotes were found sneaking ice rink skating time and walking across frozen reservoirs. What is your favorite real-life animal story, from a video or real life? (If it's a pet, please provide pet tax!) #Writephant

2026-02-03 00:40:01 GMT

4. Have you written about animals or plants in the winter? If not, what ideas come to mind this evening for future writing projects? #Writephant

2026-02-03 00:30:03 GMT

3. Then there are plants. Generally, winter is a time for local fauna to hibernate if you live in an area with snow or frost, while tropical climates tend to have consistent climates. What plant, tree or bush would you like to see in the winter and thrive, whether or not it can in real life? #writephant

2026-02-03 00:20:01 GMT

2. People have also used other creatures like caterpillars -- by counting their stripes-- while scientists follow bird migration patterns. If you could choose any animal to predict winter, as in give them the power, which would you choose? #Writephant

2026-02-03 00:10:01 GMT

1. Today is Groundhog Day, where a groundhog seeing its shadow indicates if areas with snow have six more weeks of winter. Are you Team Groundhog Shadow this year or not? #Writephant

2026-02-03 00:05:01 GMT

Our first question, as always, is how are you doing? What is bringing you joy? #writephant

2026-02-03 00:00:07 GMT

A great evening, everyone! It is time for another #Writephant! I am Priya Sridhar, your host. Since it's Groundhog Day and I'm flying from NYC back home after a weekend trip, our theme will be winter flora and fauna!
Who is ready to dig into cold dirt (or frozen!) and shoot the breeze? #Writephant

5 . You have to make a monster for your next story, and you choose the genre. Are they friendly? Ferocious? A protagonist, antagonist or side character? And do they have a tail? #writephant

2025-10-20 23:55:35 GMT

4 . Consider this scenario. You have a monster under the bed trying to scare you. Not your kids or other family members; just you. How do you handle the monster? If they want to eat you, does that change your strategy? #writephant

2025-10-20 23:49:28 GMT

3 . Some shows like Sesame Street show monsters as furry creatures that just happen to not be human. Confusingly, Grouches aren't monsters. What do you think of these portrayals? #writephant

2025-10-20 23:29:41 GMT

2 . What do you consider a monster? Does the creature have to meet certain criteria, like having fur, fangs, beaks, or claws? Is behavior a factor? #Writephant

2025-10-20 23:26:43 GMT

1 . Do you love monsters? Hate them? Something in-between? Does that view change whether you are reading or writing about them? #Writephant

2025-08-18 23:56:49 GMT

3. In addition to panels on different topics, signings and author readings, WorldCon hosts the Hugo Awards, which are one of the most exciting (and chaotic) spec fic awards. Do you have a dream prize for writing or other crafts? #writephant

2025-08-18 23:43:47 GMT

2. At WorldCon, you could play a game of collecting inked stamps from different con areas. What games do you like playing when traveling? #Writephant

2025-08-18 23:35:45 GMT

1. WorldCon is one of the biggest fantasy, science fiction and horror (speculative) conventions in the world. They usually take place in different countries depending on who places a hosting bid. Do you have a dream travel destination? #Writephant

@nprofile…0qap I can't see ghosts. But I'd like to be in a place that is haunted. Of families that once lived there, hundreds of years ago.

Getting a big break in a creative project would help. Like selling a novelette to Clarkesworld or receiving a life-changing opportunity with no strings attached. Being able to buy haunted house would also be nice. #Writephant

4. In addition to a certain fascist being gone along with his cultists, what is one thing you can or can’t control that would make you happier? #Writephant

2025-03-17 23:45:41 GMT

3. Our society encourages us to chase happiness and its enshrined as a right in our Declaration of Independence. Yet pretending to be happy gives me a headache, literally! Does pretending or acting happy work for you? #Writephant

2025-03-17 23:22:53 GMT

2. The old cliche is that writers produce better art when they suffer. Writers today say that it’s the opposite, that we do better work when we’re happy. What do you think? #Writephant

2025-03-17 23:08:12 GMT

1. Are you happy, today, in this day and moment? Why or why not? You don’t need to give details. #writephant

2024-07-29 23:54:21 GMT

2024-07-29 23:44:04 GMT

4. Have you written about tigers or other felines? Or have you written about problems too big for your protagonist that overwhelm them? #Writephant

2024-07-29 23:07:00 GMT

1. One exercise I was taught was to look at a problem and determine if it is a "Sabre-tooth tiger." That is, if it's a big problem and needs the adrenaline rush. Have you faced any tigers recently? #Writephant

4. Recently, Gabino Iglesias posted an article about how in France his crime fiction was welcomed, why in the United States people have been sending hate messages about his work being "woke". Do you feel international reader responses have changed since the 2000s, especially with social media and the Internet?
