I hate the fact that Instagram doesn't delete your stories after 24 hours but stores them permanently on your profile. I had no idea about this until recently, nor some of my friends. This is not how a feature that's advertised as ephemeral is supposed to work.
This is especially dangerous for people who share political content as we all know the US government is going through people's phones to find incriminating stuff.

Maybe I should watch a movie tonight.

Not feeling bad because I was totally expecting it.

Just got a rejection email from a fieldwork grant.

I read four research articles today and still feel like I should have done more. Ugh!

After using HDFC credit card for a decade, it was only yesterday that I discovered that I can redeem my card points for cash. The amount of money I must have lost over the years. :(

Did one more today. I find it very hard to do more than one a day.

In sociology, social movements is a well-established subfield. Comm and media studies departments too would be conducive to studying digital activism. Check the work of Zeynep Tufekci from 2010s if you have not already.

If you don't mind a slow film with sparse dialogues I highly recommend 'Photograph' (2019). It's rare for a Bollywood film to have both leads as introverts.

Whenever something gets over or is about to get over, I immediately jot it down in my notes app. That way when I am in the grocery store, I know what I have to buy.

I do. But except for one old boss of mine (who happens to be a hardcore Marxist) and an academic friend, no one talks to me there lol. And these two also I exchang messages once a year or so lol

That was my assumption too. But after making the changes, my tea is now consistently good. The new order I follow — get water tepidlly boiling > ginger > tea > sugar > milk

2026-01-18 22:16:57 GMT

Can't believe I was putting tea ingredients in the wrong order for so many years. Why did no one tell me ginger goes in first?

A simple hack for reading more: pick up stuff that really pulls you in and makes you want to keep going.

Academia teaches you to write for other academics. I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing.

If you are an introvert, going to parties is a torture. You sit in silence in a corner, feel sad about it, go home and feel sadder thinking how pathetic you are.

On the days that I don't have classes I want to be able to work for at least five hours.

There is no need for uniformity in say when a marriage is considered legal (as in after what process/rituals). Uniformity needn't be the goal, justness should be. And personal laws haven't been static; they have continuously been going through change over the decades.

Personal laws can be amended and made more gender-just before we go for UCC. Uniformity doesn't have to be the goal, more just laws should be the goal.
