Someone unnironically would suggest just using LLVM probably.
And that adds another problem, a hard dependency on LLVM or bundling it with the engine, which totally kill the appeal of Godot being a lightweight single executable :P

2026-09-15 18:39:23 GMT

I wonder if people who want GDScript to compile to Machine Code or JIT compilation understand the implications of trying to achieve that.
If you go with the first route, you might end up with worse performance that with GDS being an interpreted language, because oh surprise, writing a good compiler is hard and it can take YEARS.
If you go with the latter you may think that solves the problem, but then you need to remember how Apple basically makes JIT on their walled garden a pain in the ass.

My friend who just moved to Linux is from Venezuela, he has very low internet speed, literally right after installing Linux, we can play without any noticeable ping to different games.
You think Windows 10/11 is not bad? It literally crippled my friend's bandwidth for no good reason.

2026-09-10 04:20:45 GMT

Today was a good day, one friend move to Linux, and another avoided giving money to Microsoft

I mean, you're not wrong at all, but if disk space was my concern I would be doing C or C++, not denying it is painful to work with, it's just better than Java in my experience so far LOL

Funnily enough I haven't had much headaches using dotnet from CLI, it is somehow less painful than Java

2026-08-11 01:32:05 GMT

Do other people code in Java with Neovim/Helix and build through CLI or am I the only weirdo that doesn't want to use IntelliJ?

But I think the response to these sort of situations, with this kind of people is just simpler, they just think like that, they just prefer to crap under the bedsheets and ignore everything else cause "it's useful" for them, and to be completely honest with you?
I think that's way more depressing that they being just corporate shills.

And this is not to minimize his take, I hate this sort of take, we are at a time where we could stop, and try to think twice if this whole shit show could be done better, we can avoid the same stupid mistakes of industrial revolution and strive for something far better, but companies and this sort of "you can't stop progress discourse" is keeping us away from that outcome, and I hate that, I hate that with every fiber of myself.

2026-07-17 04:56:52 GMT

Yeah, I'm not surprised of his statement, he's been vocal about this for months by now.
Just don't try to make excuses like "He obviously is going to support AI because they pay his salary!", no.
The guy is like that, he doesn't see or care about the moral or social issues regarding AI, he just sees the results that work for him, and goes about that, and that's just the mindset of a lot of developers out there, so please, stop trying to scuba dive in a puddle.

Random question for you code heads, what was your first programming language?
Mine was funnily enough Pascal, running in a mobile IDE, my high-school programming classes were quite "something".

This whole Blender situation reminds me of what happened months ago with the Python Foundation, only with the opposite result because y'know, the Python Foundation actually refused that money.
I'm not gonna stop using Blender because of this, because I actually have good faith in the Blender dev team, but I certainly won't feel good seeing Anthropic there at all, and I would rather prefer they didn't take that filthy money.

Dear FediPeople, I require your wisdom once again, please if you have any reliable links regarding how LLM and GenAI works, their downsides, legal issues and environmental impact, share it here so I can be less ignorant and actually put my critical thinking into works.
I had another "AI discussion" with someone and my brain got extremely fried by the amount of misunderstandings I was listening, so please, let me gather "The Sauce" so I can dip my argument better.

Seriously, what's up with that superiority complex over the tools/languages you use? I'm a C programmer and you don't see me wiping my dick out in front of others? I like homebrew development for old consoles, but that doesn't make me a "superior developer" (it makes me a masochist nerd tho).
I really dislike how that behavior is so extended, grow up, people likes other stuff, just because we think something is a better option doesn't mean it's the only valid option.

2024-11-23 16:25:21 GMT

I remember having a conversation with a rando in the Godot server once, now it was probably just a troll, but I just found it really funny now.
They were really aggressive with "Uh. Godot should have official support for Rust, C# is a language for idiots, performance is everything, this is wrong because I said so"
And you know? The sad part wasn't that guy thinking they were funny with their behavior, but that fact that people like them actually exist, and I have encountered them before 7-7

That without considering that most of my friends use Windows and Discord is our primary way of communication, so it's more of a recommendation for people with a similar situation like me.

2024-08-05 18:37:06 GMT

- reply

I do know about discord alternatives, but telling people to switch to a different program when the one they use pretty much satisfies their needs is usually a useless effort.
Yeah, discord should fix their shit considering it's not that hard, but until Linux market share rises enough to be noticeable we're pretty much condemned to deal with it this way.

2024-08-05 17:57:45 GMT

Null tip of the week.
If you use #Linux and like me you have suffered from #Discord limited functionality in some aspects (like no audio when screen sharing), you should give a try to this client:
https://github.com/Vencord/Vesktop
It's really good and I totally recommend it!
