This is a cool idea (to me) because builders wouldn't have to learn a whole new way to build, wouldn't have to develop sources for wool and hemp. The panel maker could just be a new supplier to more-or-less conventional homebuilders. The infrastructure to use the stuff already exists.

I love that. I want to go further, and actually break up big farms into smaller ones (definitely starting with the speculators' acres).
Years ago I read Marty Strange's book on family farming, and what really stood out for me was how rural towns surrounded by small farms were healthier than towns with big farms.

Recently I got to talk to a #Democratic Party leader.
I used the moment to talk about how the #InternationalCriminalCourt can be invited to take jurisdiction within U.S. borders, to investigate and prosecute crimes against humanity. Ukraine, which like the U.S. did not sign the #RomeStatute (the treating creating the #ICC), has done this to allow the ICC to investigate Russian war crimes in Ukraine.
I let them know this is the minimum I expect from a 2028 Democratic presidential candidate.

I would like to use greywater, but everything is harder where the winters are cold.
If I were building a home from scratch, there'd be basement space for the greywater system, and a dedicated pressure tank so toilets could be flushed with greywater. Could even have a separate outside water faucet to run greywater to the garden.

I use Rollerhooks and trellis clips that I get from Johnnys. I clip the roll of string to an overhead wire, unroll what I need to reach the ground, clip the plant to it, and I'm pretty much done in seconds.

This year all my tomato seedlings are not just leggy but dropping their lower leaves, with only the newest leaves green.
They're growing in a commercial seed starting medium, in two inch cells that should give them plenty of room, and they get watered regularly. There are constant fluorescent lights and a bit of sunlight from the window as well.
It's a new problem this year. Anyone got a clue what's going on here?

If we have multi-member legislative districts, AND use #RankedChoiceVoting, we get #ProportionalRepresentation as a side effect.
For example, in my home state of Iowa, we elect 4 members of the House of Representatives. We could erase the district lines, and just elect 4 winners from a single statewide district. #RankedChoiceVoting would produce a proportional result, rather than the 4 Republicans we have now.
The other side effect: gerrymandering becomes impossible.

In other democratic countries (I hear), it's the responsibility of government to get citizens on the voter rolls. In the U.S., it's considered the responsibility of the citizen to register.
The American system makes no sense until it's seen as a vestige of the #JimCrow era, in which white supremacists were looking for ways to prevent formerly enslaved people from voting. Thus the default is "You can't vote."
