People of Mastodon, time for me to crowdsource a solution to a problem I have to you, thanks in advance!
I have a number of blogs I follow, and forums, and books I want to read, and seemingly way too little time to do anything of this. Suggestions?
Maybe AI can save me here . . .

This is a really big deal and some people are going to be upset about it. But Canada basically volunteered to not have Chinese EVS and make life more expensive for its citizens for an ally and then got slapped anyways.

2026-01-16 13:34:40 GMT

Well, Chinese EVs are going to be coming to Canada. With our auto sector, which in large part consists of American companies under attack, Canadians are going to have more choices going forward.

The Credit Unions have unbelievably bad security but unbelievably good customer service. Ugh.

Mastodon, it's giving Tuesday, give me your best suggestions!

It's a real indictment of Vancouver, Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto that none of them have retrofitted a single platform screen door decades after it started happening in Asia. Its the kind of thing that honestly makes Canada feel like a less developed country.

But is there any *actual* progress? We should just regulate railway emissions which would force them to adopt them.

2025-11-04 16:16:31 GMT

Is Flxdrive dead? I was excited that North American railways were actually gonna make some progress on carbon emissions…

Remain convinced that Americans think they understand Canada better than they do, and that the stuff occurring now is going to be quickly forgiven with a new president.

Toronto has gone completely overboard with subway shutdowns, and yet we still have tons of slow zones and reliability problems - exactly the type of thing shutdowns were supposed to prevent.
Wonderous stuff.

You might not pay a lot of attention to the humble platform on which you wait for your rapid transit on, but there's actually a surprising lot of science that goes into the design of platforms in order to maximize throughput. Let's take a closer look!

Many transit agencies have started to push for battery-powered transit as a way to advertise their "eco-friendly" public transit offerings, but this is a misguided way of thinking and a bad way to spend capital — let's talk about why.
