i get nothing from american hegemony, quite the opposite
all the people with too much to lose by the status quo ending are usually in one way or another distasteful to me and the people with the most to gain from a "collapse" are people who i want to see have a good future
i think the main issue is that the word collapse is interpreted very differently depending on how you see things, it's a loaded term that usually evokes images of gritty resource wars and whatever someone saw on netflix last week

there was once a samurai who entered a temple at night and asked the monk sitting there
"what is heaven, and what is hell?"
the monk was silent for a while, and then burst out
"ach, you stink, why are you here, when was the last time you bathed, you disgust me, and look at your armor, look at your weapons, you call yourself a warrior when you're that weak and disgusting looking?"
the samurai, enraged, charged at the monk with his sword, ready to cut him down
as the samurai approached striking distance, the monk quietly said
"that, is hell"
all at once, the samurai dropped his sword, overcome by gratitude, by a need for forgiveness, by an overwhelming sense of peace and understanding
in that moment, the monk said
"that, is heaven"

it's prudent to be able to maintain standards but all of these have the minor caveat of not having to share a civilization with subhumans
we are openly ruled by people who fly to childfuck island and eat people jerky, in the face of that who cares about having a licence to drive or the authority of the state when it's a completely hostile and illegitimate entity
the legitimacy factor must be addressed before the idea of responsible citizenship can be even taken seriously
